There are probably a lot of options if you use a 4th district call with one of these formats: *4NDY or **4NDY. If you want to keep the Zero, what about WA0NDY or KA0NDY?
I think you're out of luck with the last name.

eHam Forums / Elmers / Disable Soundcard Duplex for EchoLink?
|
on: July 06, 2002, 08:14:13 AM
|
|
Is there any way to disable the duplex feature of a soundcard when working EchoLink so I won't hear my voice through my PC speakers when "transmitting"?
I would like to enable true "PTT" so the speakers are muted when speaking into the microphone. Sure I can use headphones or turn down the speaker volume, but it seems like there should be a more effective remedy. I am using the latest version of EchoLink.
Thanks, Jack

eHam Forums / Elmers / Where to find a G5RV

Take a look at www.radioworks.com for some nice antennas and a lot of helpful information. Their G5RV is here: http://www.radioworks.com/PDFCat2002/55.pdf. Their Carolina Windom is also very popular. Your internal antenna tuner in the Kenwood may not be able to satisfactorily tune the G5RV (or any other multi-band wire antenna) on all the bands you want to use. Most internal antenna tuners have a limited range and are primarily designed to "tweak" an antenna that is already resonant for a particular band. I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions and responses on this helpful forum. Good Luck. Jack

BuxCom is Buck Rogers, K4ABT. He is an honest gentleman who has contributed greatly to the digital modes of amateur radio. Contact Buck and explain the situation and I'm sure he'll make it right.

The FCC rules were changed some years ago, and you are no longer required to append the "Portable 8" to your callsign. It still might be a good idea for you to do so, however, in order to avoid creating pileups of stations wanting to work Alaska. Also, if you participate in contesting, check the particular rules for the contest -- you might need to add the "Portable 8."
