I just got one with QSO number 20 and up to now I have only missed 4 to 6 words out of over 100 words sent by my program. Hope to get a antenna up so i can get on the air soon.

I have been working on practise QSOs my biggest problem is when the program speeds up more than im able to copy. I miss 4 to 6 words which I dont think is bad at all.

I tried to listen to the Texas Slow Net but didnt have much of a copy...I had the same trouble with the W1AW Code Practise...my antenna is just a B&W AP10B that I had when I lived in a apartment...im oinng to hang a couple of dipoles when the weather gets a bit better...a G5RV and  80 Meter Doublet fed with 450 ohm line.

A note I have been doing the practise QSOs that came with the program and out of over 100 words I only missed 2 to 3 not too bad.

I have been studing hard myself over these last few weeks. I hope to be on the air after doing CW in the next 2 to 3 weeks. I did learn back 2 years ago but had to stop my studies to take care of a very sick close relitive.
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / Antenna Help Or Suggestions on: December 03, 2009, 07:45:48 PM
I moved from a apartment to a house I bought I have been racking my brain out over this problem of what type of antenna I should put up. Let me first begin by giving the size of my lot 60 X 80 feet maybe of usable space. Its a corner lot and a ground mounted type of antenna is out of the question being most of back lot is concrete and there is a hill there and I have only one tree and its almost dead so I cant use it.
Im really sure but have been thinking along the lines of a windom or a G5RV they both would have to be setup as inveted V. Im not sure of how much of a V but that I can figure out later.

I just got done with studing code and was wondering what is the best way to make contacts. I know I might not be the smootest doing code and will make mistakes until I get some contacts under my belt. Right now I can only do a bit over 7 words a minute. Can someone give me some pointers.

Thanks
Joe
