I have a dual band antenna on the hatch of my Dodge Journey and a Screwdriver HF antenna on the opposite side of the hatch. 50w on VHF/UHF and 100w on HF doesn't bother my AM/FM radio at all.
Just take care on how you run the coax to your radio. Be sure it doesn't get pinched or crushed when opening/closing the rear hatch.

Doug, I've had about the same problem. What I had to do (most of the time) is cut back power to minimum and run the tuner. It usually works. Another trick is to get on 20, min power, tune into dummy load then try the higher bands again into either the DL or the ant. It will work most of the time... I have an e-mail from the Yaesu reflector for a mod to the tuner to eliminate this "stupidity". Haven't tried it yet during contest season. Mostly use my TT-238 for the time being...

eHam Forums / Elmers / Dual Band Mobile. Which One?

I have both a Kenwood TM-V7a and a TM-G707. Have used both mobile and the 707 is the easiest to use. The V7A display fades out if you're wearing polarized sunglasses. I use the V7A at home. Both are programmable with free s/w from KW. and I built the programming cable. The 707 has a higher upper limit on UHF (512mhz), the V7A upper limit is only 470mhz. If the unit is for home use only, the V7A is a good bet as you can listen to 2 freqs at once, etc.
