eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / commercial 10 meter horizontal loop

Are there any manufacturers of horizontal loop antennas who make a 10 meter version? I have a Par OA-28 Omniangle but they are no longer available for 10 meters and my friend would like to find something like it.
Thanks and 73,

eHam Forums / Digital / WSJT9 Need help keeping the correct sound card selected please

First I would like to thank Andy K3UK, Joe W4TV, Bill W5WVO and Randy WA5UFH for their help in getting me through the initial set up with my microKEYER and USB device router!
Now I am stuck on a problem with my sound card selection. I am running 9.02 r2226 on a pc running xp media edition to my IC-7700 via the microKEYER.
I have two sound cards in my PC. The original one (Realtec AC97) is part of the mother board and I use it only for the driving the PC speakers since it was a problem getting it to work with the microKEYER. For my ham radio applications I installed a second sound card (C-Media wave device) that has worked trouble free with N1MM for voice keying during contests.
I used Setup | Options on the main WSJT 9.02 window to select the C-Media wave device card. The result was I could key the transmitter, but no tones were transmitted and there was no indication of tones being received (no waterfall, etc) even when I could hear I was tuned to a signal.
After checking the SpecJT window Options | RX volume control and TX volume control, I discovered that the audio mixers are set for my Realtec AC97 sound card. I can select Options | properties in the mixer and then select the C-Media Wave device, but when I close the mixer and open it again it has gone back to the Realtec AC97 sound card.
Anyone have any ideas for me on this?
Thanks in advance for the help!

eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: Contesting Protocol Question

Yes - please do! If contesters only worked others who were officially in the contest and entering their logs, they might run out of folks to work. Anyone who can hear you wants to work you. In this DX contest, anyone not in the 48 continental United States wants to work you since contacts with your own Country don't cound for points.
Have fun, good luck and 73!

eHam Forums / Licensing / Callsign Question - elmers, please advise me!

Legally he can use any ID he wants when he posts to online forums. The only time he has to use his real callsign is when he is on the air.
Using a call not your own in an online forum may be poor taste, but it is not illegal.

I had to get a new certificate because my old one got fried, along with the pc and my old log, when we moved. Will my new certificate give me access to my old records at LoTW?
Thanks and 73,

I'm looking for recommendations on a program for general logging that will run on Windows xp. Most of my operating is contesting and I use N1MM for that, but I would like to have a program that I can use for casual operating too.
Thanks in advance and 73, Tad, K3TD

eHam Forums / Elmers / 1975 Callbook Suplements?

Steve,
Thanks again for your help to narrow it down! I was first licensed in '72, and in those days I was just a broke college kid. I remember saving up to buy the new Callbook, and then giving the old one away or even throwing it out. Who new they would be collectors items?!
You do a great service to the amateur community by being a resource for this information - thank you!

eHam Forums / Elmers / Contesting what is it
|

Hi Ed, After I replied to your post I realized I left out some info that may be helpful. Here are a couple of more points. 1. Whether you are entered in the contest or not, everyone wants to work you – give them a call! 2. It is easier to get started in contesting if you have a local Elmer. You can find one at the Yankee Clipper Contest Club 3. Lots of people send QSL cards for contest QSOs, and some don’t. The general rule is, send an SASE if you need a reply from domestic stations. Standard DX QSL guidelines apply. 4. Don’t forget about VHF/UHF contests – the September ARRL contest is coming up! 5. The sister site to eHam.net for contesting is http://www.contesting.com6. Contesting is FUN! I got started in contesting about 15 years ago because I wanted to work more DX. Turns out I like contesting better than DXing. Welcome to contesting! 73, Tad, K3TD

I know that early versions of this radio had a multitude of problems, but I have heard that later versions were fine. Can anyone confirm this? Is there any way to tell which versions (if any) are OK? From the serial number series, etc?
Thanks in advance and 73,
