1  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / force 12 complaint on: December 19, 2007, 06:16:28 PM
i sent for a flag pole antenna from force 12 and when i received it some parts were missing and holes in the bottom section  of the flag pole were drilled off center.i called them up and said go ahead and re drill the holes. i didn't like the setup and so i  sent it back for a refund. the flag pole wasn't build the right way, someone was in a big hurry . now it has been over 3 weeks now and been waiting for a refund. tom the owner was away for a week when i bought it.the lady from the front desk said they are to busy to look at it to see if all the parts are there to issue a me a refund.i did my part and sent it back and they should do the same. don't answer your calls or e-mails. they won't let me talk to tom.
whats a guy suppose to do.does anyone who knows tom schiller and why he can't answer e-mails or phone calls.that over 300.00 dollars  for the flag pole , 80 meter coil pvc caps  and the balun. the girl at front desk don't know what balun from a pig tail. i paid for a balun and got a pigtail that hooks up to  flag pole to connect the coax.she says that is the balun.i would like them to refund the 300.00 to my checking account and be done with it. this will be the last time i buy antennas off this company. i  sent a complaint to the better business bureau .so does anyone has dealt with force 12 and how can i reach tom and talk to him.

4  eHam Forums / Misc / force 12 flag pole antenna help on: November 21, 2007, 04:14:55 PM
i have a force 12 flag pole antenna with a 80 meter coil.how can i make this antenna or a vertical to make it receive better. first vertical i owned.i put a line isolator at the feed point to cut down rf on the feed line. is this good or not?.they say make a choke by winding your coax 4 to 8 turns before entering the house.i am using my rigs auto tuner and seems to tune 80 thru 10, but barely hear my ham friends that live about 15 miles from me.this is on 80 and ten meters. i can hear them good on the dipole.
any suggestions on improving the system.the flag pole is 24 ft and have about 6 ground radials different lengths. should i lay down more. not much room to in back yard for long radials.

7  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / glen martin towers on: June 10, 2007, 07:37:27 AM
i want to purchase a m-18 tower and hazer, but hearing bad reviews on their towers. has anyone bought their towers recently and had any more problems with them. i was going to fabricate a aluminum out of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x .25 and weld the braces instead of bolting them.this  should be a stronger tower. i want to make this tower fit a hazer and fab all my hinge plates etc.but i wanted to know if this tower is worth buying. a 30 ft tower would be right for me. i want to put a 3 el tribander , like a cushcraft or mosely and maybe a rotating dipole .

where does 75 meters start  on 80 meters let say 10 yrs ago.
do they still call it the 75/80 meter or have they changed it to  just 80 meters. i know they sqeeezed the extra down to 3600 to 4000.
i see on new band plan chart they just call it 80 meters
10  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / vertical antenna question. on: July 31, 2006, 01:49:38 PM
when mounting verticals, especially ground mounted. is it neccesary to bury coax to your ham shack or leave above ground  in a way not be in the way.what would be a good coax to bury and can i use plastic pipe to keep coax from deterating in  the ground. this is my first vertical adventure and was planning on buying a hustler 4 band vertical.
11  eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / second floor ham shack on: July 30, 2006, 10:44:43 AM
well since we have a four bedroom house and the two kids moved out and now just one left. my wife suggested  on me moving my ham station in one of the bedrooms. now i am going to have all kinds of problems with grounding and rf etc. what things i need to do  with a ham station on second floor like grounding, getting rid of rfi etc. any ideas. now everything  will be close to the tower and i can run cables thru window, but worried its not going to be a good idea. any help.
12  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / verticals from cushcraft on: July 26, 2006, 06:43:46 PM
i was thinking buying a cushcraft vertical , but i see lot of hype on ground radials.cushcraft has few verticals that don't need ground radials. anyone use cushcraft verticals without ground radials and with ground radials and did they perform for you.i thought a vertical to perform they must have ground radials and why do most companys say they work without them.
i don't have room to lay down long radial or many of them. i could zig zag them but havn't decided what vertical to get. gap ants. i heard alot of bad things about their verticals.
13  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / which vertical would you use on: July 24, 2006, 02:03:11 PM
i want to buy a vertical and like the ones you don't have to use ground radials. any these verticals would you reccomend.
gap, butternut, cushcraft, hygain force.i don't that much room for ground radials. house sits on a 60x80 lot.
14  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / universal towers on: July 24, 2006, 08:32:27 AM
i am going to buy a aluminum tower from univeral towers.i see they two different kinds of bases to be put in concrete, is one better than the other and are they safe to climb?.they use the tilt over bases and wondered how solid are they when erected. i was going to put it where i took the other one down and was going to use a house brace for added safety is this neccesary.
