1  eHam Forums / SWL (Shortwave Listening) / RE: What was your first shortwave radio? on: January 30, 2012, 11:28:35 AM
1969
I listened to the thrill of Shortwave Radio on a borrowed Hallicrafters S-38E. I got my Novice ticket 1 year later.

3  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: VHF/UHF Antenna's on: July 31, 2010, 02:42:53 PM
Been using a GP-6 since 2003 with no problems. Just the right amount of gain to talk simplex within a 50mi radius(50w). Hardware is heavy duty and keeps the coax connection out of the elements. 2 thumbs up!
4  eHam Forums / Elmers / Stacking yagis on: September 14, 2009, 11:48:00 AM
I know the stacking distance between V/UHF yagis in roughly half a 2m wave length between a 6m yagi and a 2m yagi but what would the stacking distance be between the bottom HF yagi (3el SteppIR)and the 6m yagi? The steppIR would be only for 20-10m, not 6m.
5  eHam Forums / Elmers / Any new Kenwood HF radio rumors ? on: April 09, 2009, 12:41:44 PM
Overheard at the AES Superfest April 4th 2009. New HF radio due out in 2010. NO ROUNDED CORNERS. All black. No other info was available.
6  eHam Forums / Elmers / DX Spots via RSS or XML feeds? on: June 05, 2007, 05:56:43 PM
Anyone know of an applet for FoxFire that will display a current list of DX spots via an RSS or XML feed?
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / Tower winch on: March 12, 2007, 07:07:36 PM

8  eHam Forums / Elmers / New STEPPIR owner - QUESTION? on: November 17, 2006, 07:37:05 AM
Make sure you follow the wiring diagram EXACTLY! I second guessed the wiring and had to take the beam down again to re-wire it.

9  eHam Forums / Elmers / novice meter question on: November 12, 2006, 10:38:08 AM
My HF radio has a built-in SWR/Watt meter and my VHF/UHF radio does not. Once I have made any adjustments to my VHF/UHF antennas and have the SWR as low as possible I remove the meter (Diamond SX-600) until the radio behaves abnormally that maybe caused by an antenna system failure either in the transmission line (coax) or the antenna. The SWR/Watt meter will let me if there is an external problem. Hope this helps.
10  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / KDK-2033 on: May 10, 2005, 11:51:12 AM
I bought an FM-2033 as my first mobile 2m radio back in 1985. It came with the (adjustable freq., 1 tone only) plug-in module. As I remember it, the only way to turn it off was to remove the module.

11  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Wilson 40ft tubular tower tilt over base question on: January 08, 2005, 06:32:02 AM
I have a TT-45 with the raising fixture(rotator at top of mast instead of bottom of tower). There are 4 "J" bolts that come up through the concrete and attach to the bottom of the raising fixture. I can mail/email/fax a copy of my manuals(it may take a while to find them)to you.

You can see a picture of the tower on my web page at:

12  eHam Forums / CW / CW Contest Simulation Programs on: October 20, 2004, 10:09:35 AM
Has anyone ported AEA's DR. DX over to the PC yet? Are there any CW sim programs for the PC that let you use your own keyer paddle? Pushing canned message buttons is not my idea of cw contest training.

Which software are you referring to? I run TRX-Mgr which provides MUF plots.
15  eHam Forums / Digital / PK232 will not TX rig on: May 11, 2003, 06:19:47 PM
There is a test function on the PK-232 so that you can check your PTT line. There is also a command that if set will not key the ptt line as well. Have these 2 things been checked?
