Thanks for the imput, but I don't think i will be in the UK anytime soon. The ones that I saw were HOLLOW They appeard to be a thin plywood that were wrapped around something round and glued, when dry they were slipped off the mold. They were hollow and very light. I wanted a set because I really thought they were neat. Thats my only reason I like neat stuff. Thanks

You have to be a really OLD TIMER to remember these. I believe they were made during WWII. I saw a set years ago that a friend had picked up at an Army Surplus Store. It was a set of hollow wooden mast sections that joined together to make about a 40' mast. I REALLY REALLY would like to find a set like this. Has anyone seen them or remember them? Thanks for all your help. 73 de N5RMQ

Has anyone out there used the AH-703 antenna, or know anyone who has? I have searched everywhere to find ANYTHING about this antenna. I really want to use one with my IC-703, but would like to hear a little something about it first. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm going to leave all the names and nets out of this to keep the controversy down. I was listening to one of the nets the other evening and there was a break in with emergency traffic. It seems this individual was sailing his boat out in the ocean Hundreds of miles from anywhere, and had serious problems with his rudder, and was in fear of loosing it. He asked for someone to make a phone call to ( I guess a rudder expert) on how to fix the problem before it got worse. He was understandibly paniked. The Net Cntroller asked one of the people on the net to find a clear frequency that they could MOVE THE EMERGENCY traffic to so they could continue check ins. They found a frequency and asked the EMERGENCY TRAFFIC to meet him there, I guess in his mental state due to the stress of the emergency he transposed the frequency and went to 14.342 insted of 14.243 as far as I know contact was lost and the outcome of the emergency is unknown. My point here is should EMERGENCY TRAFFIC ever be asked to move once contact has been established? It seemed that this poor guy was imposing on the check ins and they would help him if they could get him to a clear frequency.

In tuning a dipole antenna, do you count the wire that is wrapped back around the antenna as length, or just the wire that is between the end insulators? Thanks.
