I only use two audio lines from my computer to my TS-440 phone patch input and output. I have a 1:1 balun in each line. I did wire up the 13 pin din just for PTT but I have found that using VOX works well and really simplifies the set up. There is also an issue with the audio out on the 13 pin din. I can't place it right off the top of my head but if you google it, I am sure you will find it. Hope this helps a little. 73s

You might try what others have done (And I plan on doing this spring). Build a 40 meter trap to replace the resonator and then add about 25 or so feet of wire and use it like an inverted L. I plan on doing that and adding wires for 12 and 17 meters. If you Google 6BTV Modifications you will find many articles on doing this. Good luck and 73

Yes the AFSK IN and OUT are what you want. The PTT is on ACC2. I just use the AFSK in and out and use VOX mode. Worked many contests and Field day this way with no problems. Another plus to doing it this way is that you can turn down the volume because the AFSK-out is a steady output. Remember to unplug your microphone if you have one plugged in! 73's

Would have to 2nd the DX Engineering guide. Put my 6BTV back up and had a hard time tuning some of the bands. After reading the guide and measuring my traps, 3 of them were off and one by 1/2"! Once I adjusted them, the antenna tuned right up. You shouldn't have to take apart the traps but I would measure them just to be sure they are right. 1/4" will swing the trap 500KC in some cases. Good luck and 73s

I have been using YAAC (Yet Another APRS Client). It is written in Java and is multi-platform. Even though it says Alpha, I have not found any issues with it. It is in very active development. I use it under Linux so I can't say how it runs under windows. Worth a look. 73's, Jeff

If it is a coax feed antenna, I usually just use a small section of pipe and wrap the coax around it and then ziptie it together on the bottom and make the connection to the elements. If it is for ladder line, I drill 6 holes in it and weave the antenna elements through the the outer two and feed the ladder line up through the inner two and make the connection on the top. I usually paint the pvc before for some U/V protection and just general looks.
Good luck with your antenna project.

I was testing a radio this weekend and worked a guy who told ME what my SKCC number was! (I forgot I had one HIHI). Worked a couple more stations using my Lightening bug.

Maybe your virus detection software was not smart enough to tell the difference? Just saying. It has happened to me. One reason I moved away from the Windoze platform.

One thing that I look for and it is getting rare is a serial port. I do have a netbook with a usb to serial converter that works. Basically find something that will fit your needs. I have used everything from a Tandy 100 to a full featured laptop. Good luck in your search.
