1  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: 14.003 Digital QRM on: October 24, 2010, 02:41:07 PM
While I do not know what the QRM was, I would like to chime in on the band plan.
Accordingly the ARRL at (http://www.arrl.org/band-plan-1) and the IARU at (http://www.iaru-r2.org/wp-content/uploads/region-2-mf-hf-bandplan-e.pdf) specify that digital and narrow band modes begin at 14.070. And being an avid digital op that’s where I operate, there is no CW on that frequency. It is the general calling and contact frequency for PSK 31, 63 and 125.

If there is a digital mode down that low, on 14.003, it is probably like N3OX stated an intruder or someone that needs to move up.
2  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / RE: New website for SmashIndex on: October 11, 2010, 05:40:47 PM
Since the ads are flash based they are easy to trick. Using IE, go to the site, click tools, then internet options then security. Click on the restricted sites red circle, then click on the "sites" button. Then add that site to the list. This effectively disables scripts and flash ojects from running on the page allowing for easy viewing and a decrease in load time. You will notice the bar along the top letting you know that these add ons failed.  Grin This can be used on just about any site that has those pesking flash ads.

The site is very nice, simple and easy on the eyes.
3  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Waterfall Half Width Squooshed on: September 05, 2010, 10:53:18 AM
Not sure on the driver issue, but for the waterfall: Click the options on the waterfall, then on the " Frequency, mode, speed" tab. Check the passband settings. Should be around 100hz min and 3000hz max.
4  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Refused connection to IP server in HRD on: August 25, 2010, 04:12:58 PM
Sounds like a permissions issue on the folder. Set permissions on c:\'HRD_Directory'\ to everyone full control. Also check the permissions on the file itself.

Just read about this one on the ARRL website, http://wm1ke.us/fcc_index.html. Nice export to Excel feature

8  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: imax 2000 on 15 meters on: February 22, 2010, 07:21:47 AM
Of course it does not work! It is an 11 meter antenna and none of that equipment will work worth a flip. I have used an A99 on many HF frequencies with great success and reports, until I tell them what I am using, then it is "no copy, down in the noise". Oh well, sounds like I may need to try an Imax soon......
9  eHam Forums / Youth / RE: Brag: My 7YO son just passed his General ticket! on: February 08, 2010, 08:13:02 AM
Congratulations to both of you!
I look forward to hearing him on the air. As the father of a 12 year old ham I understand your feelings 100%.
Make sure, as I am sure you already have, that he knows that the world is full of people that are scared of youngsters gaining the up hand. They have the world by the horns and can accomplish so much more than when “we” were young.
I extend my hand and offer any assistance or encouragement that he may need and promise to never tell him to “get off the grass”.
10  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Mobile Mounts on: January 22, 2010, 09:04:01 AM
(Opinion Alert)

Give Ernie KG4YNI a shot. I have been in his shop and had a "backbone" support 150lb. Each is hand made by Ernie and can be customized to suit your needs. All of them are very high quality machined aluminum. I believe he will be set up at the Orlando Ham fest in a few weeks.
His site is http://www.hamradioinnovations.com/
11  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / GigaParts - Great place - one blip. on: January 08, 2010, 12:01:19 PM
Bought my backup HF rig from Gigaparts (My first purchase from them) last month, first one was from a competitor.

"Yaesu FT-450AT with a free year membership to the ARRL or an extra year if already a member."

Only problem was the ARRL part did not complete and I had to call them on that, web sales guy was overwhelmed, I was told.
It was taken care of in less than 24 hours. Super nice fellows on the phone and apologized for the miss.
Great job guys will purchase from again!

I read more than I care to admit and honestly, laughed so hard at times it hurt.
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: What would this pulsing noise be? on: January 05, 2010, 06:43:11 AM
I am very interested in this too. S8 to S20 here in Central Florida for the past few evenings. Takes out the whole band.
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Mic on: December 24, 2009, 12:52:23 PM
You can do anything from the Mic on the 7800 that you can do on the radio with just a few exceptions. There are 4 programable buttons on the 7800's mic that can be customized as needed.
15  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: VX-7R help on: December 20, 2009, 07:29:13 PM
