eHam Forums / Misc / need help locating N2UGO

Hello all. I was wondering if anybody could help me find some info on a friend of mine. N2UGO (Karl T. Murphy) has been AWOL from another board for about a year now and people, myself included, are wondering how he is. I looked him up on on the FCC database and it lists his address in MD and his email. Unfortunantely, emails to him go unanswered. I was wondering if people have talked to him recently. If anybody could tell me how he is doing, that would be great.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Smith, KD7HGK

Hello Sandy. My name is Jonathan (KD7HGK) and I'm wondering if you would be willing to tell me how you got you MFJ 1275 working with your FT100D. I have a 1275 and an FT100D and I'm beating my head against the wall trying to make the thing transmit. When I hit the transmit button in Mixw, instead of staying on frequency and transmitting, the rig races up the band. Would you mind telling me how you got your FT100D to transmit? How did you hook it up? I am currently using the microphone jack on the front of the radio. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Smith, KD7HGK

eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / radio starts scanning on transmit when digital

I finally have digital operations up and running. I am Using Stream by IZ8BLY to run PSK31 among other modes. The operating system I have is Windows NT. Whenever I go to transmit, I start typing and then look over at the display on my FT100D. I notice, to my amazement, that my radio has started to scan up the 20 meter band of its own accord. I really don't know what the heck I'm doing, so I may have set something incorrectly, I don't know. I have gone up and down 20 meters looking for PSK31 activity and Stream can't (or won't) decode any of the non voice signals I'm hearing, maybe there just hasn't been any activity, I don't know. I think I have everything hooked up correctly. The interface I'm using is an MFJ 1275. If there is any other information you need to help me, I will be glad to provide it

eHam Forums / Misc / Heil Proset problem, no audio.

I have a Heil Proset headset. I finally have the correct adapter so it fits into my radio. However, I have a new problem. I can bring up a local repeater with no problem however, I my audio won't transmit. I use a little pushbutton on the end of a cord to activate the transmitter. I don't have the instruction manual to tell me how to correctly wire everything up. So I may have wired something incorrectly or I might have a control set wrong. Is there somebody out there that can help me? I have tried every combination of wiring that I can think of and I'm stumped. Thanks in advance for replies.
Sincerely,

eHam Forums / Misc / RJ22 vs. RJ25 vs. RJ45

Thanks for the advice, Alan. I really appreciate it. The reason I ask this question is because of the reference to a 6 pin RJ22 plug on this page: http://www.westmountainradio.com/hmdwrtb/index.html. Also, if you look at an instruction manual for a FT-100D, the microphone pinout shows six pins. I am looking to get into digital modes and went looking for an interface. When I saw the reference to the 6 pin RJ22 that got me to thinking about my Heil headset. The plug it came with is too wide and I couldn't figure out what might be wrong until now. Then, when I put "RJ22 6 pin connector" into the search feature on radioshack.com, I came up with a 6 pin RJ25 and was just wondering if they were compatible. If my thinking is correct, I may have gotten the wrong adapter. Thank you for helping me. Sincerely, Jonathan A. Smith, KD7HGK

Hi all, I have never posted to this board before and was hoping you could help me out. I have a Heil headset that I'm just dying to use. The only problem is, the connector on the end of the adapter is an 8 pin RJ45 plug. The connector that I need, however, is a 6 pin mini DIN RJ22 plug. My current connector, the RJ45, is 2 pins too big. I have already looked at the Bob Heil website and they do list an adapter that they say will work with the Yaesu FT100 but it is an 8 pin connector, not the 6 pin that I need. My question is, does anybody know of a place, in MA or NH, like Radioshack that stocks RJ22's? Also, what is the difference between an RJ22 and an RJ25? are they interchangeable? Thanks in advance for the replies. I hope this is the right forum for this question. If not, would the moderators be so kind as to move it to the proper location? Thanks.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Smith, KD7HGK
