3  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / How to mount spring type octal socket on: June 02, 2013, 07:40:41 AM
Hi there..

I am in process of restoring one old BC312 receiver and to preserve original wiring I must replace some of the noval socket with original octal sockets (and tubes also). I acquired original type of octal socket with mounting springs. Finally got to time to mount them I discover how hard it is..or maybe I do not know right technique..
Please advise me how to mount this type of socket on proper/easiest way..

Thax in advance

6  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / W8JK antenna array of two on: February 28, 2013, 03:37:13 PM
Hi there..

I am in process of thinking to put two 20m band W8JK antennas in array. And to be rotatable this means vertical orientation. Distance in between will be aprox lambda/2. Do any of you have some clue how high will be gain of this antenna? Or maybe this antenna exist somewhere.
Middle of the dipoles will be on 10m (33ft) high in air.

Hi there..

Before some years I build WB4VVF accu keyer. With time passing I want to build entire accu keyer system. Please tell me do any of you
have PCB drawings for memory and display boards? And how good is this memory unit in actual working conditions?

This entire accu project is now obsolete (regarding IC's) technology but my intention is to recreate circuit with discrete logic.

8  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Wire beam for 20m band on: February 11, 2013, 10:40:59 AM
This antenna looks interesant but I need some sort of proved design, also my future antenna must have beam direction in point of smaller side of estate. Total length of radiator wire must be below of 65ft dimension. In this case is antenna beaming for north America.
9  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Wire beam for 20m band on: February 11, 2013, 01:06:48 AM
Hi there..
My possible antenna ground have following dimensions 65ft x 140ft. On first third of length I have some power lines on 33ft above ground so this is maximum high on that part, on other sides high is no problem. On middle of estate one tree is planted with usefull branches up to 33ft.
10  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Wire beam for 20m band on: February 10, 2013, 02:22:32 PM
Hi there..
I am looking for a information how to properly build wire beam with gain for 20m band. Do any of you have some ideas?

My ideas regarding this antenna are mixed one:

- hb9cv with extra directors
- telerana lpda
- w8jk with directors (if this is possible)
- clasic multielement yagi

What of these will be better to use?
I will put antenna in fixed azimuth position.

OK, thanks for a list of external links. Fine bunch of usefull informations are included it these documents.

I want to know what type is SPST switch for changing receive/transmitt? I found in service manual that is SPST type switch with contacts good for 3 amps and 250V. I have in my junkyard some of that types but unfortunately without round/ball style of handle. Please advice me where to find that kind of switch?

With best regards...

And, most important thing...how is this receiver good for listening DX stations? It is better to use resonant or nonresonant antenna with him?
I am thinking now, maybe it is not heavily modified but on contrary...manufactured with domestic parts with exception of vital parts.

14  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / RE: Old BC-312M, foregin maded? on: January 21, 2013, 01:35:58 PM
I am very confused. All the notes and lettering on the front panel are on english language but interior sudgest that is not meded in USA. Maybe is some sort of join job between two countries at the end of WW2. Tubes are original RCA and Kenrads brand. Mechanicaly is very well build. I am hoping to put some pictures of the interior during this week.
I must rebuild everything from 2nd detector to the speaker. First tube I will put 6R7 and for second one I will put 6V6GT for the availability reasons regarding very obsolete 6F6 tube. Did any of you guys know what is input impedance of the T1 transformer? And some sharp closeup pictures from the T2 transformer will be very usefull for me...

Also I heve some questions regarding PSU:
- it is better to use external PSU or to put everything inside of enclosure?
- how dificult is to obtain DM dynamomotor in USA, because is very hard to find in Croatia, even in Europe?

Thanx in advance 73!

Yes, I browse and check yours manuals even before but without any luck. My main question is how this receiver have US army marks and some vital pasive (capacitors) from exYugo factories? I check if these parts are some sort of mod or original and the second is right.
