I ain't much of a contesters. I do like to get on and make some contacts around the country and world on contest weekends sometimes. But, when I don't feel like dealing with it I go to 17 meters and make some QSOs there. Heck , if it weren't for contests I may never use the WARC bands.

On HF:
RTTY is the most popular and is good for serious DXing and contesting.
PSK31 is second but is better for casual rag chews and common DX stations.

The single best band for DX is 20 meters.
End of story.

I believe you can only select the state that is doing the spotting. For example the commands to receive DX spots originating in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas are:
set/filter dxorigcty/pass k set/filter dxorigstate/pass tx,ok,ar or set/filter doc/pass k set/filter dos/pass tx,ok,ar

I love Array Solution and their FB products. But if you order an ICE product then you are on your own. You may or may not ever receive the product and Array Solutions won't help you even though you ordered it from them.
Just to keep this in perspective; the Array Solutions products are great! The ICE products are very good too. You just don't get any support for ICE products ordered from Array Solutions.

Sounds like you have it figured out, good job. Have fun using echolink. It is indeed real radio if you have RF somewhere in the link.

What would be better, a QRP rig where you have to repeatedly call until you get the desired result or a QRO rig in which case you make the proper contact in one quick call, roll over and go to sleep???
hmmmmm
