1  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / RE: R&L Electronics--Great Service,Selection,Price on: March 10, 2010, 08:47:09 PM
15 years ago, Troy lied to Larry about an incident. I have not been back. I live a few miles away and I would rather buy from ANYONE other than Rude & Lazy. They lost a lot of business. They also made it very clear that they do more business via the Internet or the fax machine and they consider the store to be a liability. Oh yea, nice people.
2  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: qsl.net on: February 08, 2010, 11:41:08 AM
I do not understand the question, do you have a question??

I host my business web site on qsl.net as well as my ham site.

I never seemto have a problem getting Scott to answer my questions.

I have found a lot of interesting hardware solutions at DigiKey. Metric hardware, SAE hardware, all kids of repair parts.

5  eHam Forums / Elmers / Siltronix Model 1011D on: August 12, 2009, 09:55:26 AM

8950 is just a ruggedized 6LQ6/6JE6. Horizontal output tube (thats from a color TV).
6  eHam Forums / Elmers / Yaesu FT-50R, cant get 76-200 to show up in extend on: July 25, 2009, 07:10:43 AM
not all FT50's are the same. Yaesu made several versions. Yours may not cover FM broadcast/Air Band.

FYI - the FT-50R is a TRANSCEIVER, it is not a scanner, it will TRANSMIT, and you must be careful NOT to transmit outside your licensed frequencies.

There is a big Yahoo Group that is dedicated to the FT-50.
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / WiFi antennas on: July 18, 2009, 12:08:24 PM
build a coaxial colinear antenna.

I made one using brass tube from the hobby shop and the center conductor and dielectric from RG8.

Put the antenna in a piece of PVC pipe, feed with RG8x.

Modify the WiFi router is you want, open the box, solder in a piece of RG303 (short piece) with a BNC and bypass that reversed SMA.
8  eHam Forums / Elmers / testing a transitor on: July 18, 2009, 12:03:34 PM
no.

You need to test the device, not the surrounding components too.
9  eHam Forums / Elmers / How to repair cable outer jacket? on: July 17, 2009, 09:08:46 PM
make the cleaning lady buy you a new cable. I found new 50' CAT5 for under $8.00 at www.dalco.com. Make her pay the price that Best Buy would charge. You could tell her that you will give her a 20% discount and make her happy and you will still pay for her next cleaning job.

Another option... why fix it. If the pairs are intact, leave them alone.

OUTSTANDING JOB!!!

Finally, an UNEDITED database that I can access from my phone and not have to mess with the childish tantrums of the database manager.  73!
