it must have been late 1976 or early 1977 because my old call (later than yours but before others that I know) was issued in late 1977. If you used to have a WN call, then it was 1976, WD was 1977.

Unless the seller told you different, the IC2AT does not have a CTCSS encoder. If it does have an aftermarket encoder, chances are it is a single tone encoder so you will need top open the radio and look for the CTCSS board and then to see how the board is set... most boards for the IC2AT have solder pads to set the CTCSS tone, some larger boards have DIP switches.
If the 145.19 repeater is the big FARA system, located somewhere near Cincinnati, listen to the voice announcements and follow the instructions for access. I have not beenon that repeater in many years.
For a replacement battery, Radio Shack uses a simular battery for the HTX-202. The only Icom battery that you cannot use on the IC2AT is the BP7, but the BP3, BP5 and BP8 are all good the BP4 is a battery shell.
The NiCad Lady, Mr Nicad, and perhaps 20 other suppliers carry batteries. If you have the old battery, then all you need is a battery "refill" (rebuild the old battery).

I would ask for it back first.
Do they have a reason for not returning it?
Then I would go, post the story onthe BadHam yahoo group, make a police report, name ALL the officers of the club - they are equally responcible, also name the person to whom you actually handed the tuner over too.
I recall seeing a "stolen gear registry" somewhere... list it there too.

the EASIEST way to make a pick up loop and lay it close to the coax. I would image that a couple turns or so, laid near the antenna connector would find enough leakage to give you a good pattern.
As for setting, well, you need to experiment. Your scope has two functions, time and amplitude. Time is the horizontal plane, amplitude is the vertical plane, so you just need to adjust for the vert and horz gain.

SVD... spoken like a true design engineer...
I am not going to draw the schematic for him, but an op amp (lm741 works nicely), one per input, an audio amp does need to follow to drive the speaker(s).
A cheap simple mic mixer (Lafayette, Olson Electronics, Calrad -- oldies but they work, and can be found for minimum dollars), feed an audio amp, LM380, what ever.

Comet is OK, but a far superior quality mount is the Diamond K400! I use a K400 3/8 and the Comet version so I have seen both in action.

why not use or build a "mic mixer"? A couple op-amps (LM741), associated circuits... simple stuff.
This way you can combine all the audio together and send it all to one (or two?) speakers.
MOST modern receivers do not use transisitors for audio amps anymore, they use IC's, and as one poster said, it will cost large bucks to replace.

there is a ham that deals in foreign stamps... look around. You might email the ARRL, I am sure they know him.
You can do the IRC route, but it is VERY expensive for what you get. (thanks to Mr Ponzie)
In major cities, you can find coin and stamp stores that stock sheets of foreign stamps too.
But for best performance, just send a Yankee Dollar, good in nearly ALL countries (and the ones that it is not, usually do not allow citizens access to communications). You would be surprised how far the Yankee Dollar will get you in third world countries.

The RS35 is better for your IC746 than the RS20. The reason is that the RS35 is 35A MAXIMUM current draw, 27A is the normal that the power supply will like. So, the IC746 would work better with the RS35 with a few amps left over for receivers or lights in the MFJ 949 etc.

actually, it does not really matter in this case, however...
When you use "plumbers solder" AKA acid core, will turn GREEN, also, you DO NOT want to be soldering the coax to the copper pipe with acid core. If you do use acid core, I would wash the antenna down with "baking soda mix" to neutralize the acid before you put the antenna inthe air.
One other thing, that copper will turn a deep shade of brown, if you like the bright copper, use some clear Krylon Paint to keep it bright.
