1  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / W.A.S. Tracking Program: QuickWAS on: October 18, 2011, 05:03:50 AM
I've written a program for those who wish to track their WAS awards.  It's free for those tracking the Mixed certificate QSO's only but $9.95 to track all other awards.  For more information:  http://aa4m.com/quickwas/

I've dug into the FAQ's and don't think I'm violating any rules, since tracking the most popular WAS award is free.  If I've misunderstood the rules, please delete this post.

2  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: ARRL WAS information needed! on: July 03, 2010, 10:26:19 AM
Hello Bob,

Before posting my request on this forum I sent the exact same request to the ARRL.  Here was their answer:

------------------------------
Hi Bill:

For WAS when we redesigned the certificate a few years ago new stickers were not at that time. For now, for all WAS awards or combinations with endorsements I have been issuing certificates. I do have the old plain stickers if someone does want them, but for now I am doing certificates.

We are planning another redesign and stickers are also on the list, but it may be awhile

Regards

------------------------------

It may be just me, but I don't think their answer did a very good job addressing my original message, which is why I re-posted it here.

So does anyone know if my list covers all the WAS awards or not?

I've been reading the WAS rules and may need a little clarification.  If I understand it, the following represents ALL the WAS awards:

Plaque
5BWAS

Certificate + Optional Plaque
Triple-Play

Certificate
Basic mixed band/mode
OSCAR
PHONE
    AM
    FM
    LSB
    USB
SSTV
160 meters
50 MHz
144 MHz
222 MHz
432 MHz
Digital
    AMTOR
    CLOVER
    G-TOR
    PACTOR
    PSK31
    RTTY

Endorsement to Certificates
10 Meters
12 Meters
15 Meters
17 Meters
20 Meters
30 Meters
40 Meters
80 Meters
CW
EME
Novice
QRP

To summarize, my list is showing 1 plaque only, 1 certificate + optional plaque, 20 certificates, and 12 endorsements for a total of 34 awards.  But what has me very confused is the possibility of getting endorsements on top of endorsements (etc.) - for instance 40 meter CW WAS, 20 meter QRP CW WAS, 80 meter RTTY QRP . . . the possibilities are endless.

Are my 34 awards listed above correct?  If not, where have I made my error(s)?

Tnx and 73,

5  eHam Forums / Elmers / Atomic clock propagation question? on: February 03, 2009, 12:22:35 PM
I have 2 atomic clock timepieces, 1 is an Atomix desk alarm and 1 is a Casio Waveceptor wrist watch.  I got both at the same time last September.  Because of my proximity (Tucson, AZ) to the transmitter at Ft. Collins, CO, the clocks had no problem refreshing the time each night at midnight.  BUT - in mid-January, all of a sudden neither was refreshing during the night hours.  I experimented like crazy with different locations in the house and leaving the timepieces pointing in different directions, but nothing I did gave me reliable refreshes each night.  But a couple of days ago, about Feb. 1, all of a sudden both are working fine again in their old locations.

So was WWVB having a problem or was January an unusual month for LF propagation.  OR - is something else going on that was causing the problem?

Tnx & 73,
Bill, AA4M
