1  eHam Forums / Contesting / How close is too close ? on: May 14, 2010, 07:07:48 PM
I have an issue and would appreciate INPUT
from the contest community

I was thinking of MOVING
the area is nice and properties are at all time
LOW PRICING right now  !

The new location would be 3 miles from a
big contest station that is often Multi Op, Multi station
He has no contest stations nearby
we are currently 10 miles apart !

I am  thinking of staying out of DIRECT line of SIGHT
of the CONTESTING neighbor
the Rocky hills can offer much attenuation

there is an attractive property 2 miles from this
contest station -  I am thinking its TOO CLOSE

I am a CW DXer and sometimes contester
We both use LEGAL LIMIT .
How close is too close -  The BIGGER the station
the more SPACE we desire

I usually operate ONE STATION but might do some
TWO station contesting

How close is TOO close -   We both use CLEAN radios
( K3s ) - and I can always introduce BAND PASS FILTERS
to lessen any harmonics

HOW CLOSE is TOO CLOSE HuhHuh

4  eHam Forums / Station Building / Deciding between ICOM 775dsp and Yaesu FT1000MP Fe on: May 20, 2002, 03:07:07 AM
I favor the IC 775DSP  which can be
had for $ 2200 on the used market !

ICOM rules !  you may pay a bit more for
filters.   The ICOM 775 is a great rig -

Just my opinion!
5  eHam Forums / Station Building / Given ONE TOWER of 110 feet on: October 23, 2001, 05:40:18 PM
I am thinking of installing my first
tower -   I love 40,  30  and 20m

I was thinking of installing
some kind of 2 or  3 el 40m at 110 feet
then above it 4 el 20m monobander
then a 2 el 30m on top

below I am thinking
of a Second 4 el 20m yagi on sidearm rotor
to be stacked with 4 el above it

then string 4 sloping 80m dipoles in Lazy
Vee using four square phasing box for 80m.

Any thoughts -  feedback on this idea would
be very appreciated.  Ideas on Spacing, interaction,
designs,

Has anyone used ZX YAGIS out of Germany?Huh

thanks   Josh N7XM
6  eHam Forums / Contesting / comparison of IC -765 and IC -775 on: February 01, 2001, 03:52:55 PM
Any comments on comparison of RECEIVE and
TRANSMIT performance of the older 765 to
the newer 775DSP would be greatly appreciated.

Do they compare as CW rigs?
overlooking lack of DUAL RX in 765

I suspect the 775 sounds better on SSB.
the 775s that I have heard on phone sound
simply GREAT !

thanks
7  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / 3 el YAGI performance - Real World Experiences w on: December 20, 2000, 03:08:43 PM
I would appreciate hearing from 40m operators
with experience(s) using 3 el yagi(s) on
40m band.

Does the 3 el KLM linear loaded model
come close to full size 3 el yagi on 40 to 48 foot
boom???

Is the DX Engineering 3 el design ( no longer made)
the best commerical model made in last decade??

Anyone build the design in LOW BAND DXing
that uses 60+ driver with wire elements for
director / reflector???

Does one need to Beef Up mechanical construction
of 4 el KLM ( M2) to arrive at a dependable
yagi?

Thanks    Josh N7XM
