1  eHam Forums / Elmers / Mobile Mounting on: June 23, 2008, 05:16:50 AM
You might try cheapham.com and check out Panavise. I have an adjustable swivel mount in my Dodge Ram Sport and can position my IC 2100h in almost any position.
2  eHam Forums / Elmers / Using Vent Pipe as Mast on: May 07, 2008, 05:56:52 AM
You mention that the vent pipe is 2". Unless it is an older home I doubt that cast iron was used. Most likely PVC or galvanized iron pipe. If the latter I see no problem.
3  eHam Forums / Elmers / Are computer viruses all removable? on: March 19, 2008, 04:55:27 AM
You might also try Spybot S&D (search and destroy) It's a free download and was recommended to me by my niece's husband who has a very succesful computer repair and system repair service. Be careful not to use SpyWARE bot as it is not the correct one.
4  eHam Forums / Elmers / coax trimming on: February 08, 2008, 05:35:18 AM
You might want to look at www.arcade electronics.com and click on coax strippers. I have a Paladin stripper for Rg-8 and wouldn't be without it.
5  eHam Forums / Elmers / Moble Rig Brackets on: January 18, 2008, 03:37:01 AM
If you're looking for a hump mount may I suggest a 45 degree Panavise swivel mount. I have a Dodge Ram Sport and this particular mount offers great versatility in positioning. You can check them out at CheapHam.com. or direct from Panavise.
6  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / Vehicle Mount for 897D on: November 16, 2007, 05:40:29 AM
Check out Cheapham.com and look into a Panavise. I have a Dodge Ram Sport with an IC-2100H mounted on the hump using a Panavise mount and can position the rig almost anyway I wish. Very flexable.
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / Help, MFJ 259B says low voltage w/AC power on: July 20, 2007, 05:47:14 AM
I recently experienced a similar problem. When the installed alkaline batteries went south I installed new rechargeables. After abt. 10 hrs. of charging I still could not get a full charge. After checking the output voltage of a brand new MFJ charger, 120v. at 500ma. I found the output was only 3.5v. Tried an old Radio Shack charger (output 13.5v)but the unit only indicated 11.1v. after hours and hours of charging. Tried another charger (120v at 500ma)Unit now indicates 13.5v while charging.
What do I derive from this? Not sure but I suspect poor quality control at mfg. Just my $.02
8  eHam Forums / Elmers / Can someone explain this? on: June 19, 2007, 04:56:41 AM
I just finished installing the homebrew K0FF 2 meter loop for use on SSB. Also have a 5/8 ground plane vertical mounted above it. They are controlled by an MFJ remote switch, which is not connected at this time, so I am basically receiving everything on the loop. While scanning local repeater and simplex freq.s a station came in very strong on 146.55 FM from either Alexandria, Va. or Shaunee, Ga. (missed the call prefix so not absolutely sure). Can someone, anyone, explain this? Temperature inversion maybe?
I am pleasantly confused. (no.....no preamp)
9  eHam Forums / Elmers / K0FF 2 meter loop on: June 12, 2007, 12:43:58 PM
Finally got it built and ready to go. Just one question, if anybody knows. Is the 100w power rating max. or will it handle more? The shear mass of the antenna tells me it will handle more, but I guess that's not necessarily the case. Anyone?
10  eHam Forums / Elmers / K0FF 2 meter Loop Stacking on: June 12, 2007, 09:14:06 AM
O.K. so I have it built. Info I have says it will handle 100w. Anyone know if that's max?
11  eHam Forums / Elmers / Amcomm Power Supply on: June 10, 2007, 04:56:27 AM
I googled, Yahooed, Verizoned,....even asked the XYL (if she doesn't know it doesn't exist)I too just found references to 2 meter rigs and/or manuals. Most likely, as mentioned, probably on the order of 15 amps.max. as the model seems to suggest.
Thanks all. We don't have to beat this one to death...Hi!!
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / Amcomm Power Supply on: June 09, 2007, 03:18:56 PM
Recently aquired an Amcomm power supply Model BSM-15C. Unfortunatly no manual. Anyone out there know where I might find the specs? (output rating, etc.)Searched the internet but no luck.
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / SQ-144H/V on: June 08, 2007, 09:06:18 AM
COOL!! Originally from Cambridge Springs. Moved to Erie 8 1/2 years ago to Harvard Rd. (3 blocks west of Greengarden). K0FF hasn't published the phasing proceedure for stacking yet but I'm still going to build two. Thanks, everyone, for all the info.
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / SQ-144H/V on: June 08, 2007, 07:02:08 AM
Great responses. Thanks. It did sound to good to be true. Will most likely build the loop and,if I can figure out how to stack, them will probably build two and switch between that and my vertical. (Really wanted to build my own anway).
