1  eHam Forums / Special Event Stations / RE: Class F Pre-Field Day Event on: June 15, 2011, 12:03:38 PM
Two very late comments:

1) Your math was off by a factor of 10. Approximately 7% (not 0.7%) of participating stations were class F.

2) Field Day incorporates a list of rules and an elaborate scoring system, and the results are published in QST in descending total points order, so to try to assert that it is NOT a contest is just silly. The point is that it is MORE than just a contest. Some groups focus entirely on the contest aspect, while others ignore the contest aspect completely, or give it limited emphasis. That's the genuis of Field Day!

2  eHam Forums / Elmers / CUSHCRAFT MA8040V 80/40 METER VERTICAL on: January 05, 2005, 09:16:25 AM
I just received a brochure (actually, it's the assembly manual!) from Cushcraft in the mail. The antenna can be as tall as 27ft if you tune it for the low end of 80m. It covers the entire 40m band and any 100kHz segment of 75/80m. Weight is just 9 pounds. It's top-loaded with capacity hats and should be a nice DX antenna. CC recommends 4 65ft and 4 35ft radials, or 12 33ft radials if space-constrained. You must supply your own choke balun. R&L Electronics have the antenna in stock for $190.
