I have 2 Kenwood TH-D7's and both of them had an internal failure on two seperate frequencies. I had to send both of them to Kenwood for repair and that cleared the problem. Check to see if you can manually transmit a signal on the APRS frequency. Your unit might be acting the same way.
Dave- I'm running a similiar set-up using an Alinco DJ-190 HT connected to a PC. It does require an external TNC. The input signal comes through the earphone jack and the output uses the remote microphone jack. Both are connected to a Kantronics KPC+ TNC. A computer cable runs from the TNC to the PC. Simple set-up and it works great. 73's
You might try searching in a past issue of QST magazine. They had a project using a $20.00 Radio Shack TV antenna that could be modified for 2 meter use. It was a fun and easy project and the antenna works great! 73's Jim
Make sure you have the correct version of the software. I have the older TH-D7 (without modifications) and use the diskette that came with the cable. I've helped others with the newer radios (D7AG) and we've loaded the software from the Kenwood site. The newer version will not work with the older (unmodified) radios and visa-versa.

A good source for information about APRS is available on the web at www.nwaprs.org. Take a look and then E-mail me if you need additional assistance. Good luck.
