1  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: HF dipole antenna on: January 21, 2011, 09:32:47 AM
Adding the extra wire would be a problem since the yard is 50ft wide and 30ft deep. The best bet would be to replace the DXCC with a DXLB plus which will fit nicely in the backyard.I find dipole antennas are much quieter than verticles at my location. Now if I could hjust find someone selling a good used DXLB plus I will be happy.

2  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / Yaesu FT90R blown fuse on: January 07, 2011, 03:49:49 PM
I turned on my FT90R the other day and the fuse blew next to the radio. The fuses next to the power supply were fine .I checked the output of the power supply which proved fine.I checked the power line for shorts but it was good.I am not sure why the fuse would blow even when a new one was put in place and the same thing happened. The antenna line is fine as well as the swr. This really has me stumped.Any ides out there as to what went wrong.

Thanks, looks like the best way to go would be putting the DXLB plus antenna up.It will only add 10ft to each end which will fit in my small backyard.

4  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: Coax entry into basement shack on: December 23, 2010, 06:33:41 PM
I used 4 inch plumbers pipe. Before I finished the basement I installed the pipe with a plastic conduit box on the outside of the house to route the coax thru. The pipe drops down to the floor in the basement. This is large enough to easily pull any size coax thru. Our house has an above ground basement which made this an easy task.I enclosed the pipe in the wall when I finished the basement. If you are getting a new house built you could ask the builder to install such a pipe that can be used for routing coax thru. You can run plastic conduit from the junction box outside to your antenna site for added pest protection from squirrels etc.

I am currently using the Alpha Delta DXCC with great results.Has anyone modified this antenna so it can be used on 160M ? Is it worth the trouble or should I just purchase a DXLB plus ?

Thanks for the info,I have heard a few AM stations on 80 & 40M here.I do not use an amp so I will be barefoot with only 25W on AM.I am on the air at about 430am each weekday before I head off to work.Perhaos I will try 1.888 Mhz before the summer storms make it impossible.

13  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Modified 6BTV antenna on: May 09, 2009, 05:15:23 PM
I made a slight typo and wanted to find out how to modify it for only 160M as it already works on 80/75M.
14  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Modified 6BTV antenna on: May 09, 2009, 05:13:49 PM
I have used this antenna on the local net here (Ontars) 3.755 with no problem using 20- 25 ft radials .I will just use the Alpha Delta DXLB for 160M and also 80 and 40 depending on propagation.
