If one had a newer rig like an IC7410 or 7600 or equivalent Yaesu model with DSP,  would there be any benefit to an external DSP like the 599zx?

Thanks for your opinions.

Thanks. Good idea.

They have their own and I would of course expect them to recommend that one but it's just the board.  The others are more finished dongles and boxes.
5  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / CIV to USB Interfaces Comparison on: June 28, 2011, 12:50:21 PM
I am planning on getting a PIEXX board for my IC751A to allow for computer control.  I see a variety of CIV to USB converters out there including ones from Blackcat Systems, G4ZLP, West Mountain, and PIEXX.  Any reason I might want one over the other?

Thanks and 73.

I have to LOL.  Who would have thought this would start such a heated discussion.  Thanks everyone for your input.  It is appreciated.

Are there any other choices besides Glen-Martin when it comes to buying a 6 or 8 foot roof tower?  I've Googled it a hundred ways they are the only vendor I come up with?
Thanks in advance.

8  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Receive channel keeps changing in Digipan, on: January 25, 2010, 04:00:06 PM
Just wanted to let everyone know that I found the solution to this problem.  Indeed it was in an FAQ on the Signalink site.   Seems that with Windows ME, 2000, and XP the computer, "may show an abnormal sample rate offset error of around 7000 ppm at 11025 Hz."  The result is the transmit is off of the receive frequency. Changing the sampling rate to 12,000 fixed everything.

The lesson here is to check the FAQs.  Indeed, I found there  the answer to several little issues I was in fact encountering like a sensitive TX level.

Thanks again to all who contributed.

Many thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Hopefully, I will have some time this weekend to get on the air and try some of the ideas here.  I'll post what does or doesn't work.  Thanks again for the help.

10  eHam Forums / Digital / Receive channel keeps changing in Digipan on: November 30, 2009, 02:33:01 PM
My rig is an IC751a. I am running a Signalink and Digipan.  I can make plenty of contacts but have an odd problem I don't understand.  I see a CQ and click on it and the text in the waterfall text window starts appearing in the receive/transmit window.  I answer the call and they come back to me but the received text no longer is in the receive/transmit window. I have to hunt for it among the channels in the waterfall text window.  Sometimes it will shift to different channels several times during a QSO.  I have made certain my RIT and my TX delta are not on.  Is my receive audio drifting?  Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

I'm relatively new to PSK31 so forgive me if I've left something crucial out or have missed the obvious.

Thanks in advance for the help.

11  eHam Forums / Digital / Digipan locks up after transmitting once or twice on: January 29, 2009, 03:07:55 AM
Reducing the power did eliminate problem.  Another reason for getting my ground better established.  Thanks all for the help.

Someone else suggested that.  I think my main issue is lack of a good ground but I'll also get some toroids.  Thanks.

The computer is a laptop Inspiron 1405. 1 gig of memory. 1.6 gighz  I run nothing else in background except Zonealarm and wifi. I'm not using a usb to serial link, it's straight USB.

If it is RF feedback, would a few turns around toroid chokes on the cables help?  I know I also need to get my system grounded.  It's "kinda" grounded at this point.

Thanks for the help.

I'm using a Signalink into an IC751a (microphone jack) and running Digipan.  After I transmit once or twice, Digipan locks up.  The waterfall is no longer scrolling and I can't get it to transmit again.  If I hit CQ it displays the CQ but doesn't transmit.  If I get out of Digipan and back in again it will work but lock up again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help
