You mentioned the KX3 along with the 817 so are you mainly interested in qrp ops? and if so any favorite mode? Also what is your current antenna status or plans for same?

Re: W5DXP reply#11
Your post clears up something that I suspected but was not sure of .My homebrew 40M new Carolina windom definently gets out more than my 40m dipole at same height but in opposite direction.Until now I had thought it had more to do with the vertical 10 ft. Q section rather than the end fired aspect. Thanks

I will not be buying this type of antenna anytime soon, but would be very interested in knowing if the company is listed on any stock exchange.Sales and profit margins can't help but be on the upswing due to low overhead in the marketing dept.(free ads and publicity) and knack for getting free beta testers and consultants in the technical R&D division,an exemplary business model.Perhaps it is listed under another name or abbreviated stock symbol.I doubt it would be a PENNY stock,AMEX maybe??.Buy low sell HI.

I read these E-Ham forums/posts with interest because I can often learn something new or try out new ideas on my own and this thread is no exception. So far after reading 4 pages of responses(containing mostly of you know what) I have learned two things,(1) these EMCOMM2 antennas work and (2) a certain percentage of hams have expendable monies available. So keep it on rolling boys and I may learn something else and if I don't the entertainment value is priceless.

This post directed to the following:Potential hex beam users who are height restricted to below the MAGIC 40 ft.level and are qrp/cw devotees. Hint: If time and antenna allows listen in on dx qso's on the qrp frequencies(usually 30m and up) or if possible take part. Take note of antennas used, you will probabley find mostly hexs, moxons or some type of spider beam. Take note of antenna height, the average will surprise you as it would some of the few self annoited antenna gurus in this thread would discover if they took the time and effort to find out for themselves. Do not get sidetracked by the ongoing debate in this thread of the definition of HOW WELL does HOW WELL IT WORKS means. Most importantly, draw your OWN conclusions from your own findings.

Due to this thread I believe the EMCOMM folks are enjoying a minimum of $125.00 worth of free ad space directly targeted to 1,483+ hams.I must admit it is a shrewd marketing technique on their part intentional or not.

Obviously some respondees to this topic are happy with this antenna for its intended advertised restricted environment type use and cost is not an issue,so let the meaningless debate of what the bestest and greatest antenna in the world is for each individual ham continue. However the name EMCOMM2 seems to allude to and indeed is advertised as an emergency antenna also.I do not see much of a reponse to this type of use.My thought is that if one wanted this antenna for true emergency use only ,why would he even spend $10.00 for one when as any novice from the 60's or newer ham with any common sense can jury rig an effective local nvis antenna with just a 60 ft. coil of bell wire or small spool of twin speaker wire kept in a backpack or car trunk and put out a usable rf signal with dx and 100% efficiency being the last thing in mind.

Re:K04NX I checked out the 2nd link in your post and noticed the first amp as a HF2000DX but further down the technician is working on a HF2010DX ??.

Armstrong method used here also,my homebrew hexs are mounted on permenent mast with no guys(they can be tilted down).I don't consider the armstrong method an inconvienence since I will pick a certain direction and keep it there for a week/month or so to concentrate on a particular propagation friendly dx area.I have no interest in CHASEING dx so no need for me to go out and continually rotate it.Works for me.

Maybe TenTec should import these directly and pay the custom/duty fees and put their own name/logo on them then everybody would be happy.
