eHam Forums / Contesting / Contesters have no respect

i don't know about every one else, but i seem to have more frequencies than i need ,even during contests. having said that, i tried to operate in the ga qso party, just a few days ago and, to tell the truth i could have has a rag chew on almost of the frequencies with out any trouble as there was good gaps in the frequencies in use, did not send in a log but, it doesn't matter to me, as i had all i cared to do. i also have my vegetable garden to tend, and i can do that if there is a contest on. shheeeese! live and let live. if the roof didn't fall on you.be thankful. did the world end? well, i guess i missed it. shux, i used to get all heated up about contest, but not anymore, i find i can always find other fish to fry. do i ever give out a few points? "Guilty" as charged. a friend asked, is all you have is one frequency on thet radio, sure there is more "But" only if i want more. i usually stay on 17 somewhere. it is a good band and i, myself enjoy it. so any one can talk there and do cw, and digital, last i heard, digital was legal, that and cw if you want to use it, if not then, i guess someone would have to do something else. just live ONE day at a time. hair gets gray a lot slower. ag4hy

has any one tried to use the heil classic or the goldline microphone with the IC 746 PRO? have tried and bob said i really needed some high end EQ with this mic. oooo K the brochure says it (the 746 pro) has a microphone equilizer, ooo k i've read the manual and can't find any thing about what menu it is in, and icom said to contact heil. heck think i'll send this back to aes and get the ts 2000 instead; maybe kenwood can answer the question, icom doesn't seem to be very knoledgeable. thanks

I have both a citizens band and 2 meter IC. in the car, and; around here at least, if you want to talk to anyone, you'll have to do it on cb, reason is there just simply <nothing> on 2 meters, except the deaffining silence, and growl of static when one of the repeaters comes on and no one there. oh yea we have one repeater. that gives the time. 73 willie ag4hy

wb2wlk? i'd be interested to know, what you meant by, the standing twin lead and ladder line off several inches, would teach the ones who think this, a real lesson. This is the conventional wisdom, but conventional wisdom isn't always chisled in stone. not trying to start an uproar, but genuinly interested, in does or doesn't twinlead, ladder line have to be stood off several inches, in the real world? thanks and 73 willie ag4hy

John ka4wja yes the boom is exactly 6 feet long and to tell the truth i really am one of the school "if a little is good (in some cases, and this is one of them) more is bound to be better like if i can get 8 Dbd then if more gain is to be had then i'm all for it, i probably will have extra parts of elements left over as the ones on it are 11+ feet as is.was hoping to cover some of the fm parts of the band by making it at 52.0 and hoping to work both ssb, am and fm if that is possible. got to looking and also have a 5 element "long john" they called it with gama match so , there is more possibilities say wot? have a stacking kit for the delta, and some extra elements off another antenna 3 element but the boom was missing when the fellow gave them to me, so i can make something and hopefully it will have enough Db to not have to be all the time QRO. thanks lots for the imput 73 willie ag4hy

pete ac5e; thanks for the info, sounds like you have done it and came up with a really fine antenna. i have a bunch of antenna books, but they speak of the delta loop in,well an off handed way and it is something like it is "ok, if you want to mess with it," and really tells one nothing. willie ag4hy
