1  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / How deep to go on: April 11, 2010, 09:18:01 PM
So I am going to put up about a 35 foot tower and me and my brother have been trying to figure out how deep to go. So here is the situation we are going to put up a tower next to our house due to the size of our lot we will not be able to guy so we are going to brace it to the siding the brace will be about 6ft below the top section. But positioning the tower is not the issue.

My main question here is. I have been told to make a 3ftx3ftx3ft hole, and I have also been told that I could do a 2ft square hole only going down 18 inches. So as you can tell I am stuck with a dilemma, my main question is there a happy medium or can I go 18in and not have to worry. It wont have a heavy antenna on top. Just a light 10m beam.

Any help would be awesome!

The signal never EVER goes off, It seems to be on all frequency's dont hear it on 2m/440, I dont remember what band it was I think I just tuned it in as good as I could. Mode SSB. I first used heard it on a shortwave, National Panasonic Dr-49, and I thought it might have been the radio, nope. Tried it on a cb that I had laying around heard it on there too, Then I tried it on my President Hr-2510, still there. I have tried many different antennas, some cut specific for the band i was on and some not. I hear it on all freq. I live in a urban neighborhood.
