I had the same problem with my 746- it's pretty common, although Icom service pretended they never heard of it when I called to inquire as to price of repair. I fixed it myself, and set up a page on my web site that gived details on the repair, including photos, parts lists, etc. It's at: www.ka1mda.org/ham/746/
