eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Don't Do Business with Tony Rogozinski, W4OI

It has been over a month since Scott, KA9FOX, talked to Rogozinski. I have heard nothing from him. I am left to assume that I am out $400 and he is truly a thief. Don't do business with him unless you want to contribute to the Rogozinski Relief Fund.
You are in GA, and he is in VA. For $400.00 I'd drive up there and tell him I want my damn money and I want it now.

Good radio and Drake still supports and has parts for it. There are two versons of this radio. You need to google around. What you want is the version that goes down to 150kHz. Which I think only was produced in 97 and later but google to make sure. It looks like this on was made in 95.

For what its worth, this looks like an issue between you and him. And something that you two need to work out. Not the people on eham. No one here can solve your, mine or anyone else's personal issues.

I would suggest you purchase the best pair of speakers possible. Becaues, there will come the day when you run across the ham with a wall of mixers (for a single mic?) with expanders, companders, compressors and equilizers. You should be able to enjoy the QSO it in all it's glory.

Yes, and it's free, reliable and works much better than the ADMS software. I learned this, the hard way, with the VX6r.
Oh, and when "brushed off" was mentioned, I have absolutely no doubt of that happening. Heard it too many time before.
@ found freeware on the net when the ADMS disc died@

If you are going to try to repair this radio yourself, (since this is your 2nd post on it) you will have to purchase the service manual to have any real success in a short period of time.
Pokeing and proding around in this animal is not a good idea. And I mention again; a number of critical parts for this radio are no longer available.
Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and get a service manual before you have one of those, "Oh Shit!, what was that?" moments

Also... A number of critical parts for this radio are no longer available.
It sounds odd that the radio would work for a month at the techs house and fail in two days at yours.
I would seriously consider letting Yeasu look at the radio. While I have repaired several 990s they are a bear to work on and I would not attempt another.
Good luck!
