16  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: 9M4SLL Now on LOTW on: March 14, 2013, 05:24:35 AM
I worked 'em 2013-03-14 @ 00:57:47 on 10M. Woke up to a LoTW confirmation this morning. Cool.
17  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: 9M4SLL Spratly on: March 12, 2013, 07:19:10 PM

Yep, I saw a bunch of spotting as YV/VP8LP and then the words "Correct call" in the comments.

The dispute is between Argentina and the UK, not Venezuela and the UK.

73,

Chris/NU1O

Of course. I got my wires crossed, but you knew what I meant.  Grin

There also has been some jamming - peaking from the Northwest from here (China).  I found a Chinese forum where there is talk of a coordinated effort to cause QRM to 9M4SLL.  Remember that to the Chinese, Spratly is occupied Chinese territory.  Politics aside, jamming absolutely goes against the ham spirit.  It was sad to hear the Chinese National Anthem broadcast over one of the 9M4SLL SSB stations yesterday.

I saw something similar the other day. VP8LP was on and either somebody hacked the cluster and changed the name to The Malvinas, or they wrote Malvinas in the comment section. I can't recall which but it was odd. There were also a few comments on the Brits not controlling the island much longer.  I have worked Bob on all 5 higher bands so I didn't stick around to hear if there was jamming.

This is something the hobby definitely does not need.

73,

Chris/NU1O

19  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: TX5K seems to be EU only for 40M and 80M CW on: March 10, 2013, 07:21:10 PM
I would like to compliment the majority of NA hams out there that exercised amazing amounts of patience during the 80/40 bands operations, which were frustrating at best.  Three long nights were wasted in my station's pursuit while the low banders were cherry picking outside NA. That frustration will be shared pointedly with the TX5K ops I see in Visalia this coming April.  (For the record, the high band ops were outstanding FB).  We will not be sending a donation check to this DXpedition "organizer", he can go ask EU for it.

In the words of AF3Y...  Roll Eyes

20  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: TX5K – all Bands, all modes? on: March 09, 2013, 05:58:28 PM
Most DXpeditions cannot afford the time, expense and manpower to support a real time application like DXA.   A daily upload to Club Log is a fine alternative.

Oh sure, now that I'm spoiled.  Wink

I hope DXA gets used by more dxpeditions. It is cool to see not only what bands they are on but who they are working, in semi-real time.

Yep. Maybe join forces with Club Log?
22  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Thanks to the entire Clipperton crew...I really enjoyed the challenge(s) on: March 09, 2013, 05:08:07 PM
Yep, that was a bunch of fun. I really liked DXA also. Great job to all involved.

Congratulations on DXCC via LoTW!

Zack W1VT

Thanks, Zack. I sure am having fun with all of this. Great hobby.

Wow, I applied for DXCC @ 13:07 today and it has already been processed.

I believe I like this new fangled Logbook of the World.  Cool
25  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: LOTW on: March 05, 2013, 05:41:03 AM
Had a few more QSLs hit last night. I made DXCC via LoTW and applied online.

I guess it's time to have my cards checked and added too.
26  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: LOTW on: March 04, 2013, 01:28:25 PM
It's been fine every time I have tried to sign on. My QSL count is slowly edging up. One more and I will have "LoTW only" DXCC. Smiley

Cool.  Cool

Just got him on 40m SSB, hopefully this time it's legit  Smiley

After 0615 Z - it is the real McCoy.

CONGRATS!

It was at 12:15z ... but http://www.dxa2.org/ says I am not in the log.
Hopefully the 40m SSB contacts from this morning are not yet uploaded  Huh

It does show that they have worked 2199 QSO's so far (858 CW 636 SSB 291 DIGITAL)

this was one of those times when i definitely heard him repeat my call correctly...

Yep, I was one of those too.
29  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: The TX5K Team Has Arrived at Clipperton! on: March 02, 2013, 04:10:28 PM
I sure would like to know if the QSOs from before DXA started running are included in the totals or not. (I can't believe how bad I've got DX fever.  Grin)
30  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: The TX5K Team Has Arrived at Clipperton! on: March 02, 2013, 06:04:33 AM
Hey Rich,

I had a QSO with TX5T before the DXA was running. I don't see my call listed when I plug it in to the "Call Search" on the DXA page. Normal? Or should I work them again on 40? I hate to dupe.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought the DXA was working for a moment, but it doesn't look like it now.
