DJ6SI was my one and only qso with Mt. Athos...SY/DJ6SI. As I recall, there was a little controversey with his operation there. Not sure why.
I've never been able to break a Monk Apollo pileup so really appreciate the contact with Baldur...

From the ARRL website...
James McLaughlin, WA2EWE/T6AF, Killed By Afghan Pilot TAGS: afghanistan, arrl, operations room, QSOs, rtty 04/27/2011 James McLaughlin, WA2EWE/T6AF, was one of several killed in Kabul, Afghanistan on Wednesday, April 27. News sources say that eight American troops and a US contractor died Wednesday after an Afghan military pilot opened fire during a meeting in an operations room of the Afghan Air Corps at the Kabul airport -- the deadliest episode to date of an Afghan turning against his coalition partners, officials with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISF) in Afghanistan said.
Licensed since 1972, McLaughlin was a career US military officer. Bob Magnani, K6QXY, tiold the ARRL that McLaughlin was just in the US a week ago, visiting his family. His son Adam, KD6POE, works for me. He told me that his dad had been in Afghanistan and Iraq many times over the past few years, most currently serving as a flight instructor.” McLaughlin posted on his qrz.com page that “almost every day, I operate at around 1230 - 1430 UTC. Sometimes I am QRV until around 1500 UTC.” As of March 26, 2011, he had logged 4359 QSOs, most of them on RTTY and PSK. -- Thanks to Russ Bentson, K6KLY, CNN and Fox News for the information

Heard him but too weak to work. He's very active though and easy to work. 17 and 15 meters seem to be the best bet for us...Good luck! You'll get him, Vince.

The Signalink USB is very easy to set up and use. Check out Yahoo groups...Search for Signalink USB...There is a ton of good info on there. I would say go for it...I love RTTY...It took me a little over a year to get 100 countries confirmed. Many dx stations that use digital modes use lotw so you can get the easy confirmations. Very good, Vince. I'm in Baldwin Township...We must be fairly close...Yes, it looked like he was staying busy most of the night. He wasn't nearly as strong as ZB2FK who was on CW at the same time. I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten through once the mayhem started...

Looked at the USPS website and Gibraltar is recognized. Just "Gibraltar" should get it there in one piece. Must have had a pipeline there last night...Worked two of them on 40...I heard you work the guy on ssb last night just before I got him...
Good luck with the card...

Vince,
The same group was in Liberia in 2007 (5L1MS). There is an active log search on their web page for that operation. I don't think it it was up until after the end of the operation...Maybe the same will hold true with Benin...

Agreed for the most part.
I noticed alot of mis-spots for FT5GA. I'm guessing many of the people who duped TX5SPA thought they were working FT5GA.

eHam Forums / DXing / The Rarest Station to Answer Your CQ

Years ago, I was calling cq on 20 meters and could hear a very weak station calling me. At first, I thought the call was KA4A. Turned out to be TA4A. Not exceptionally rare, but it was a new one and I was plenty excited. But...
Back in June of this year, I came across CU2JT running a pile up on 6 meters. He was loud, but with my little square loop antenna, only 18 feet off the ground, I couldn't break through. I tried for about 30 minutes and gave up. A while later, I started calling cq around 50.097. To my shock and delight, CU2JT answered my cq. That was my first dx contact across the ocean on six meters.

Good topic...
Campbell Isl. was activated in 2005 (ZL9CI). Looking forward to Glorioso, but also wonder if Juan de Nova/Europa and Tromelin have been activated in that time frame. Pratis and St. Peter Paul Rocks also come to mind.
Has anyone worked these in the last nine years?
