Bought my 440SAT in 1987. It's still going strong today. Still using the original memory battery also. I believe the 440 was one of the largest selling HF transceivers of all time. Or I could be wrong. But I like mine. It's certainly not a lemon. I've bought a lot of gear through the years and never had a lemon from any major manufacturer. Never used a warranty. Usually just get tired of the rig and want something different. But the 440 will be sold off by my heirs.

Outbacker Outreach with Outbacker tripod. Paint the tripod with cammo green/brown paint. I punched a hole thru the siding into the interior down near ground level. Looks like cable tv coax. Works great. Move tripod before weekly lawn service shows up.

Mine is WPE0BO. Approximately 1959 or 60 when I got it from Popular Electronics. As a SWL, I used some cards I got free at the radio store. I believe they were printed by GE. Anyway, I called myself SWL-6, living in California at the time and received hundreds of returns.

I've had one for a short time. I like it just fine so far except the display is a bit small and the keyboard buttons are even smaller. I did not like programming it so I bought the EXPENSIVE software from Universal Radio($40) and loaded up the memories with ease. Battery life appears to be very good. It is a heavy little sucker which I like. Audio is very loud outside. It's already become my favorite 2mtr HT.

eHam Forums / Misc / police type call sign badge

I just ran across this old post but what possible use is a "police type call sign badge"?
I suppose you could clip it on your belt, fire up your handheld and pretend you are part of Miami Vice?
