I bought a can recently and I love it! I use it on coax pigtails.. i cover the solder lugs with tape to keep them clean. I spray 4 coats.it covers the center insulator and soaks into the shield to keep water out.. I used it on my 4:1 1/2 wave coax balun and it worked out great! make sure to shake the can very well before spraying...

In my opinion you can be 95 to 99 percent confident any LCD tv is quiet!
I have two LCD TV's both Samsung and a couple of LCD comuter monitors within 10 feet of my radios and I dont detect any RFI from anything..
I also have many Home Depot CFL bulb's in my house and no RFI from them either..

eHam Forums / HomeBrew / RE: Cutting metal enclosures with Dremel tool

For round holes I use a Drill bit,or a step drill (Harbor Freight).Up to a point for 5/8,3/4,1 1/8 I use a chassis punch. For holes 5/8 up you can use a Hole saw but it is better to use them in a drill press with the chassis locked down for a cleaner hole especially if its in a spot that will be in view.. For slots and square holes I use a nibble tool..
The best cutting wheels to use are the fiber reinforced ones!(Buy them on eBay)! I cut steel bars and rusted bolts with them FB! Wear eye protection and a Dust mask! You can cut Plexiglass with the fiber reiforced whells also!
Copper clad board I use a Carbide scoring tool!
The round dremel bits are hard to control if trying to do slots.
I always wanted a Dremel since I was novice in 1962 But I was doing a tile job in 1998 that I ran into trouble with and I bought a dremmel with a spiral carbide cutter to clean up about one hundred feet of grout line that did not turn out right! I don't know how I managed to do things without one! I now have two! I have many many accessories ,cutters, circle guides, drill press, router base etc..

It is not as easy as the video on ebay makes to believe! I have some of the Home depot stuff and some of the Ebay stuff. Aluminum conducts heat away from where you apply it at a extremely fast rate.So it is difficult to get the metal hot enough! On antenna elements You will probably ruin the element before you can get it hot enough. The aluminum solder once it sticks to the metal will not re-flow once stuck. The metal will no longer be shinny once the joint is soldered,If you are lucky enough to succeed. because it will have a burnt look .Also theheat will weaken the strenght of the aluminum.
Mapp gas may be the way to go? i dont have a mapp gas torch so I have not tried that. If you buy a torch, buy one that auto ignites when you pull the trigger otherwise you will wast a lot of gas..
Your best bet may be to find someone who has a mig ot tig welder and do it that way

I built a copper squalo from plans on the web and it tuned up beautifully! I was surfing and there are even better designs now out there.
I used it to work Scotland a few weeks ago from new york city. I was running 100w and thru 100ft of rg58.. the antenna was at 16 feet and next to a large tulip tree!
By the way didnt the halo you have either tune up with a tunig capacitor or adjusting the end plate spacing?

Some Home Depots sella PVC NEMA box 12 x 12 x 6 that has a gasket under the lid! It is about $25 dollars!
Mouser sells plastic and cast aluminum watertight boxes in many sizes..
One possability you may want to try. If you just want to keep the rain off your preamp! Go to a Fence company.Ask for scraps left over from PVC fence installs the PVC post are either 5x5 or 6x6 square. buy a pvc cap for this and either screw it on ,or cement it on! You can get metal pipe clamps at Home Depot for about fifty cents each to fit your mast and bolt them to the square PVC tube and put a metal hook inside to hang the preamp on or bolt the preamp to the inside of the tube..
MFJ has a Wifi beam they sell that is made of this material. Gve thier site a look!
I have a homebrew remote antenna switch that i may mount on my fence this way..

Ok! I have a homebrew squalo at 24 feet(I worked Scotland with it last week)!I ran 100 watts thru 100 ft of 20 year old rg58!
I have a 4 el Hy-Gian beam in the garage being re-habed!This will go to thirty feet on the house chiminey in a few weeks!
I am building a moxon and hope to have it up next weekend!
The 4el Hy-gain is a decent antenna. I have had it for since 1966 and worked many states using 20 watts on AM!

I dont know how many inches are frayed! If the coax is outside you can use Fusion tape then coat with black liquid tape. They sell Fusion tape at Radio shack(it is red colored)! If the coax is indoor only use the scotch 33 or the liquid tape.
You can also use that liquid for insulating tool handles. They sell that at home depot also! 73
