eHam Forums / Misc / Yaesu FT 857D DTMF microphone problem

Can someone assist by telling me how to fix this problem. I was using the DTMF microphone on the rig, (Yaesu ft857D) and then switched to a regular microphone. The radio being menu driven, I changed the related menu from RMT to NOR as outlined in the operating manual, but when I was ready to use the DTMF microphone again and after switching back to RMT in the menu, I could not get the microphone to work properly. The only functional button is the power button. I did a micro processor reset but that never changed anything as it relates to the microphone. What could be the problem and how can I get it solved. I anticipate a response.

I was actually thinking about the MARS mod. for the ft-857D. As it is I would like to have it done so that I can get to use the radio on my work frequencies. The MARS mod for the ft-857 is different when compared with the ft-857D.

I would like to extend the TX for my 857D but looking at the mods for the 857, I see where the 857D already has a jumper in place. Can anyone say whether a modification for the 857D is out as yet or has anyone modified theirs?

Can anyone tell how to correct the problem whereby the VX 7 sounds like a piezo buzzer from time to time, especially when it begins getting hot?
