I am considering the purchase of a Cushcraft R9 vertical. Is there anyone who can provide information regarding performance, bandwidth, instillation, etc. Also, what kind of tuners are being used with this antenna and is a tuner needed on all bands?

I recently programed my Wouxun two band HT. I like the HT, but when I begin scanning the preprogramed frequencies, it will pause at frequencies with activity for about five seconds then continue scanning until it finds the next frequency with activity. I would like to set it up so that when activity is detected, it remains on the frequency until the activity ceases. I am using a programming cable with this rig.

I recently purchased a Wouxon KG-UVD1P dual band HT from Radio City. Trying to program the radio using the instructions in the manual was very confusing. I tried to return the radio, but was told a hefty restocking charge would be assessed. I obtained a programming cable and software, but still no luck. I continue to receive a message when trying to "write to" the radio that it can not be found. Any help will be appreciated.

I am considering purchasing a Universal 9-50 aluminum tower. I have seen conflicting information regarding "how easy" it is to walk one of these towers up. I will have a A3S tri-bander, Ham IV rotor and a short mast mounted on the tower prior to hinging up. Can it be done and how many people does it usually take.

eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / SB-614 Monitor Scope

I recently purchased a Heathkit SB-614 monitor scope. At first the CRT would not show a display because the tube filiment was not lighting up. I checked the pins filiment pins for 6.3v. This checked out, so I feel the power supply is in good shape. Next, I took off the tube socket and checked the tube filiment pins for resistance. They were not open, but I can not rememeber the exact resistance. I cleaned the tube pins and socket connections with an electrical cleaner.
The tube filiment will light for a couple of sessions and then fail. I am wondering if the tube filiment is intermittent or if I just need to clean and possibly adjust the socket connections.
