Come on fellows, this is my home call; for many years i was the only operator from A22. Present call is VA3QY and will be going back home in Jan 2011.
Now, can we get back to the question at hand?
well, we will make some assumptions ...
the radio doesn't transmit ( meaning deliver power to the final)
you believe that you HAVE TO replace the uP because it doesn't transmit
the problem remains misdiagnosis on your part
the radio does not transmit because the radio has a shorted 8 volt line next to the mixer ic in the final ( and maybe other caps)
it may also need a new mrf final
unfortunately this format is not conducive to fixing things,
so we will play the internet version of phone tag
questions to answer :
does the radio demonstrate ability to do ssb into a neighboring radio ?
does the radio receive?
after fixing hundreds of the htx 100 version of the radio,
I can tell you that unless you really want to fix the radio,
replacing the uP is just an exercise in futility
.....besides you will never find the flat pack uniden custom processor loose
get the schematic online and look at all the 8 volt rails in transmit
you may find the one for sip ic in the pa to be low or non existent
and NO you can't put the radio on the shelve for a year and expect the radio to save all the memories ( regardless of what uniden says in the user manual)
ain't happening, period
