1  eHam Forums / Elmers / New Ten-Tec TT 626 2N6m vs other 2m and 6m radio's on: June 29, 2001, 12:19:54 PM
hi,

the July issue of the germany CQ-DL has a test of the FT817. It shows that it is a nice radio even on HF. But it shows the the 2m RX is the poorest (compared with HF,6m and 70cm). They found out that the reciver is IM3 point is minus 14.8 db. That is bad for contesting on two.

bye

2  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / Auto Tuner ? on: June 21, 2001, 08:08:25 AM
Hello,

I have a Icom IC 706 MKII in my Landrover since a few years. In the moment I´am learning morse code and at the end I will have a full (class 1) licence.

So I´am looking for putting a HF aerial on my Landrover. As you can see at: http://lr-109.de/my_109/pic1999.html  I´ve some genuine british army aerials fitted. So I think I can use this 9 Feet long aerials on the fron wings.

I can fit a smaller Autotuner in one of the boxes that are below the whip http://www.qsl.net/dg5dbv/mylr3.htm
So I can use one aerial for the higher band (20m to 10m) and fit a kind of coil in the other box to use the other aerial on the lower bands (80m, 40m, 30m) because 9 feet is much to short for the auto tuners  for this bands without extra help.

I can use a relay after the auto tuner to change the antennas.

The AH-4 or the SGC 231 will fit into this Boxes. I found the RT-11 from ldg-electronics and it is much cheaper than the others.

Any experiance with a Setup like this. Any Tips for the Coil an the lowband antenna ?

bye

Oli
