Tried when it was warm, and also used wd-40 on it. Gonna try and use something a little stronger then wd. Fingers crossed!!!
3  eHam Forums / Elmers / Weller Soldering Station on: November 08, 2012, 01:32:20 PM
I have a wes-50 soldering station for about 4 years now. And I love it. The problem is I cannot remove the old tip to replace it. It has been in there since new, and it ain't coming out. Tried everything I can think of to get it out, short of messing up the handle. Any ideas?
4  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Fan dipole question on: June 01, 2012, 07:40:37 PM
The tree I had my Buckmaster ocf antenna took a lighting strike, no visible damage but swr readings are off the scale. So that's coming down and I made a 40 meter dipole to take it's place, how I'm thinking of hanging a 20 meter wire on it also. My question is how far apart will the end of the 20 meter have to be from the 40 meter wire? Been doing alot of reading on fan dipoles and not much is said on the distance of the ends.
5  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / RE: Hijackers on: February 11, 2012, 09:12:02 AM
Well if you have not been hit by a hijacker in 20 years consider yourself lucky. It was not from my email, it was from a truck tech site I use a lot. The hd light popped on and the hour glass icon on the came up on the pointer, and I just clicked onto the site! Changing passwords ain't gonna do it here, it d/l and installs by itself. It makes the reg keys look legit so mal-ware programs have a hard time to finding it.
6  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / Hijackers on: February 10, 2012, 10:44:53 AM
A home computer finally got a "redirect hijacker" What a nightmare to get rid of. Did some reading on it and found out most virus protection and malware programs cannot find it or cannot take care of it. (free programs) Ran combo fix on it numerous times, plus Malware, Spybot and Super anti spy ware. Finally got rid of it. I think at least Combo fix shows its ok. I know free programs don't give the protection and type of scans you get on a paid for program. But there is so many of them to choose from.  What type of Mal ware program works for you, or at least offers some type of protection from this garbage.
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: 5btv tuning without radials on: September 23, 2011, 08:52:53 AM
Put the wires down and wait till you can use the MFJ for a while longer. It will take time to adjust the antenna but it will be worth the wait!!
8  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / windows 7 install on: August 21, 2011, 02:53:07 PM
Ok I installed windows 7 over vista on my laptop. While installing the program said it would make a "windows.old" file, and put the vista files in it. Everything installed ok poked around the old file, and there is nothing I need in it. My question is can these file be deleted w/o any problems?

10  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Radio Shack asks the "DIY Community" for Input on: May 23, 2011, 06:13:45 PM
Just hiring somebody that knows a little about electronics instead of the cell phone pushing kids. Most of them don't know or even care about anything else.

Go to the Weller site and download it. Why pay for it?
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Jet Stream Fan Dipole JTFan8010bk on: January 08, 2011, 12:11:33 PM
Thanks for all the replies. WX7G also mentioned about wire spacing, which was another thing I was thinking about.  If tuning would be a big pain or not.  Of course it's no Alpha-Delta.
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Jet Stream Fan Dipole JTFan8010bk on: January 06, 2011, 07:39:29 PM
I know what it is, what I'm asking has anybody tried and used this antenna. And how it stands up to the elements.
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / Jet Stream Fan Dipole JTFan8010bk on: January 06, 2011, 06:31:26 PM
Seen this multi band dipole for sale at a couple of dealers. Jet Stream Fan Dipole, the price is not to bad around $80.00. It would almost be the price of parts if you went out bought everything new, and built it yourself. But I can't find anything else on this antenna, checked eham and unless it's under a different name I can't find any reviews on it. Getting the antenna itch, want to try a different antenna. After all it's 20 degrees out and 12 inches of snow!
15  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / New computer on: December 12, 2010, 10:21:34 AM
Well the old shack computer finally took a dump today, power supply shorted out and took out the mb. It was running Xp, 2 sound cards and 2 serial ports. And about 1 gig of memory. Now my wife said buy a new computer, but the problem is, how well do ham programs run with Windows 7 (like HRD, s/card packet). Plus I would have to replace my s/c interfaces with usb ones. I like to build my own computers and have some extra room to expand (extra pci slots, things like that. I've been looking around TigerDirect's web site and most I've seen don't leave to room for expansion. So I need some suggestions. Plus let it be known that I hate Windows Vista (it's on my laptop)
