One of the guys in my local DX club worked David on 10m this morning. I got on about five minutes after his Q and I heard nothing. The signal had disappeared by the time I got on. He sent me a recording of his QSO. I could hear BY, JA, and PY calling off the back of his beam. David was Q5 copy. This happened at 6:30am local time. Can someone explain how this could happen? Perhaps we are indeed in a solar peak right now 73, Jonathan W6GX

Mine also came this week. What's weird is that I have a 40m contact confirmed via the paper card and their on-line log, but not on LoTW. The times on the card and my log match perfectly. My other two contacts were ok on LoTW.

I'm definitely not a brain surgeon and QRP is not for me. Today I tried to break a YB pile up using 10 watts. After ten calls I got frustrated. I turned up the power to what I consider as QRP (100w) and he came right back The only time when I go 100w or less is when I wanted to chat with K0JU who lives down the street from me 73, Jonathan W6GX

David was on 20m SSB this morning and I logged him for an ATNO He was 54 on my receiver and he also gave me a 54. Several others in my local DX club also worked him. Working 20m LP is challenging however when the condition is ripe it's a lot of fun. LP from Colorado to ZS8 is 14,308 miles however it's all water. If David gets on the air as often as Pierre then that's good news to those who need ZS8. He will be there for one year. Ham radio IS the perfect hobby for such an isolated location. So far David seems to enjoy the hobby and give out ATNOs. David is also using a 200w rig. although I can't confirm what power he was running today. GL to all. ps a big thanks to Pierre who groomed two non-hams and big thanks to David who put ZS8 on the air. 73, Jonathan W6GX

I was sleeping in and I had the alarm turned off. Darn. My buddy had no problem working him on the LP. He wasn't very strong (55) but good enough for #260 for him (2013). For a change I'll be fighting the California kilowatts as opposed to the Florida or New Jersey gigawatts 73, Jonathan W6GX

I would have to say that South Sudan is probably is most active countries in Africa at the moment. I hear them very often even surpassing South Africa.

Perhaps for you, but this is the first of the new South Sudan / Z8 DXCC entity that I have personally heard, meaning this Q is an ATNO for me. I have 312 active DXCC confirmed, 11 deleted; nowhere near the top but I'm not a beginner at DXing. I've heard many other AF calls recently but not this new one. Still need Cameroon and a couple other AF... Gary KA1J Gary, Z81D has been very active this year and last year. He always put out a great signal compared to other resident hams in Africa. Now with Z81B and Z81X on the air I do believe now it's the prime time to work Z81. I missed ST0R too as I was not on the air in 2001. I worked Z81D last year for an ATNO. Congrats on the ATNO. 73, Jonathan W6GX

KC4AAA is in zone 29. In fact KC4AAA counts for a total of seven zones, 12, 13, 29, 30, 32, 38, and 39.

Hi Krish, Thank you very much for your efforts on activating two much-needed entities. You have demonstrated true DX'ing spirits and all of us are very grateful for that. Someone else here mentioned about VU4. I have never heard VU4 on the air. I looked it up on clublog.org and I see it having an eerily resemblance to VU7 in terms of rarity I hope one day to hear your voice again from VU4 Get some well-deserved rest and be ready for the QSL pile up Rank Prefix Entity Name % Users 50. VU4 ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS 62.20 51. VU7 LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS 62.02 73, Jonathan W6GX

After 3 days of can't hear him, barely hear him, hear him good but can't get through, I finally managed a qso on 20m LP this morning for ATNO #318.
His qrz info states today will be "ATNO and NA focus in the evening", so I'm one and done.
Thanks Krish for the new one, and good luck to those still needing a qso.
That's fantastic Tom. Congrats on #318. Persistance paid off. And what a true DXer Krish is. GL to all. 73, Jonathan W6GX
