What is the difference between the G-800SA and the G-800SDX rotors?  I do not see the G-800SDX even listed on Yaesu's website,  They only have the G-800, G-800SA, and G-800DXA.
2  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / Help with AL-811H on: January 19, 2004, 04:26:19 PM
I'm having a problem with my AL-811H amplifier and wanted to see if any one had any suggestions.  I turned it on this morning and let it warm up a few minutes.  I turned the out power all the way down on my radio (FT-847) and keyed the mic.  The amp keyed and the needles went to their normal positions.  Then I slowly started turning the power up.  With just a few watts of drive, the amplifier keying relay started chattering and the meter needles started swinging from 0 to fully pegged and back a few times.  Then the 12A fuses in the back both blew.  I unplugged it and removed the cover but didn't see any obvious signs of damage.  I replaced the fuses it turned on and had the correct high voltage.  I tryed keying it again with the same results and another blown fuse.  I'm not sure where to start checking for problems/bad components.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the replies.  You were right about the DTR line.  I made a new cable and crossed the DTR and DSR lines and now I have two way communication between the radio and computer.  The manual for the FT-847 only shows the serial in, serial out, and ground pins being used.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi, I'm trying to connect my FT-847 to my computer.  I have the cable connected to my serial port and have tried several programs with it.  I can send commands to the radio and change bands/modes etc, but there doesn't seem to be any information getting from the radio to the computer.  The readout on the computer screen doesn't update the band/mode information.  If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I live about 30 miles or so as the crow flies from my dad.  While not on 146.52, we use 2M simplex almost every day.

OK, thank you for the info.  I figured out how to do it myself so I won't need to contact them again after all.

I recently purchased an Ameritron AL-811H and I need to know how to modify it for use on the 10 and 12 meter bands.  I faxed a copy of my license to Ameritron but they haven't responded.  If anyone can help me out I would sure appreciate it.
