1  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Mast Pipe Suggestions on: March 06, 2006, 01:26:00 AM
Hello,

I am in the process of making a change on my tower. I will be putting my 6m5x 6 meter beam on the tower which is currently at 50 feet. I will also have a 6/2/440 ground plane installed at the very top of the mast.

My tower is Rohn 25g with the standard top section.... I am currently in the market for a rotor plate and I will be using a Ham II to turn the antenna with.... I need sugguestions for a mast pipe to go inside the tower that is strong and durable.

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Just wondering what your opinion would be on this exactly stated in the Topic Title.....

I'm looking at the IC-7000 radio but what your all's opinion about the others.

I already have the TS-2000 and I would have to sell it to get either one of them 2 radios.

Your opinions will decide what I do with it.

Keep the TS-2000 or Sell it and get one of those 2 other radios.

Just wondering why is it such a bad spot for it. Maybe thats all he has to mount it. I know I have an 04 Silverado and the selection of places to mount mine isn't that great either. Alan, Can you please advise what he has done so wrong in this installation. There is no wires showing, appears to be a strong mount where he has it what else is required?

Lets have your recommendation on what he done wrong and how you would install that radio in the car that he has.

I purchased a 6 meter beam ( Cushcraft A505S ) at Dayton this year and I'm having difficulty getting the SWR down. I am running a TS-2000 w/ Astron 25 Amp PS. The beam is temp. mounted on a pole slightly above a mobile home - metal roof and there is a large barn about 100 feet away from the antenna that has a metal roof on it as well. - When I look at the SWR reading on my TS-2000 I can't get the SWR down and the internal tuner refuses to tune the antenna so that it will work. The radio has decreased its power to make sure no damage occurs. I do have a tower I plan on putting this antenna on about 50 feet in the air but if I can't get the SWR down then I see no point in putting it up and it might as well just hit the Ebay Block.

Measurements call for each element to be 35" away from another with the reflector and director element be 2 inches in from each end of the boom which is done and the director element be 31 inches away from the mast pipe which is done correctly.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong or could be the metal in the area be doing the SWR problem

Thanks

Hello,

I have acquired 6 sections of Rohn 25 tower 5 bottom sections and 1 top section. I plan on digging about a 4 ft hole with about 10 bags of concrete. My area is very open with no planning and zoning. My property is very small so I can't put up guy wire. Do ya think its possible to put up all 6 sections of tower with the concrete and then bracked to my residence.

I will be putting just a 10 element 2 meter beam and a Tri Band Diamond V-2000 antenna on it and thats it as of this time?

Thanks
John

Hello

I have in the air about 20 feet a 4 Element 2 Meter Beam and a Diamond V2000 Ground Plane about 25 Feet on the same pole... Real close to it I have the Radio Shack 99 Dollar TV Antenna with Channel master Preamp - Anytime I talk on my radios running as low as 5 to 75 watts on either antenna the TV just goes completely blank... Is there anything I can do to prevent that from occuring... Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated....
