32  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / RE: small and/or inexpensive SWR meter on: November 27, 2011, 06:04:51 AM
I have three similar meters that look alike but with different names. Probably made by the same manufacterer.

I think I paid about $5 at the most for each used.

They all read the same so they are within specks.

They are good for a quick look but they aren't a Bird.

If you can find a TenTec model 1202 Dual Band Wattmeter, it does a good job.

It requires an internal 9 volt battery or external power 9-14 volts.

I found mine for $20.
33  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / RE: HEATHKIT TO START KIT PRODUCTION AGAIN on: November 18, 2011, 07:23:58 PM
HeathKit might start with their original kit.

A homebuilt aircraft. Full size.
34  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Why to transceivers use two fuses? on: November 06, 2011, 05:27:57 AM
I do not worry about the WHY.

If the manufacturer says to use 2 fuses, I use 2.

There must be a good reason.

If you really want to know, then ask the manufacturer.

36  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / RE: Where to find an ICOM IC-255A power connector? on: September 02, 2011, 06:37:00 AM
The last ones I bought I got at Radio Shack not long ago.

Check if they are still in stock in a store near you.
37  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / RE: AES is Terrible when compared to HRO on: May 22, 2011, 02:59:09 PM
I have had no problems with AES Orlando.

If I order before 10AM I get what I ordered the next day.

I have never had that service with HRO.

39  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Icom IC-SM2 Mic on: May 18, 2011, 05:47:01 AM
Does anyone know if the SM2 mic will work with the IC-725 HF radio?

Thanks in advance.

The SM2 is a 4 pin, the 725 requires a 8 pin.
http://www.icomcanada.com/techbulletin/tb1/microphone.htm

Here it says that the SM-2 use4s an 8 pin plug.

41  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: HTX-212 on: April 27, 2011, 05:12:26 AM
Can anyone tell me if there is a battery in this rig?. I know there has to be somewhere.! Darn if I can see it, and the manual say,s nothing about it either, thanx for any help 73 n4joh/John

Are you sure it is a HTX-212?

The 212 is a mobile rig and you can connect it to any 12 volt battery.
42  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / RE: Atlas 210x won't transmit on: April 21, 2011, 05:40:59 AM
I have an atlas 210, 210x and a 215x.

I found a project board a RadioShack that plugged into the sockets on the main board. I also found the sockets there. I made a standoff board. It made troubleshooting a lot easier.

The 210x was an outstanding mobile rig coupled to an origional Outbacker antenna.
43  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Is ham radio aging or not ?? on: April 15, 2011, 06:11:44 PM
It is better a lot better to be "aging" in ham radio than the alternative!

44  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Any Updates On Glenn Baxter K1MAN? on: April 13, 2011, 05:31:36 AM
I heard that it's waiting for the outcome of the court case which is due, I think, in September.

The question is "What year?"
45  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / RE: HT as mobile rig~Antenna questions. on: April 11, 2011, 06:00:30 AM
Years ago, before the SMA connectors, I used a mag mount that had a BNC connector on the base and the cable.

All you had to do was put the rubber duck antenna on the mag mount and connect the cable to the HT.

It was great for temporary applications.

I think I still have it somewhere.
