Just downloaded/uploaded log to LOTW with HRD 5.xxx -- All is well.  Whew!!!!
3  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / RE: Tuning a linear into a dummy load on: April 03, 2013, 04:13:21 PM
Real world:   Initial settings obtained on a dead band.  In the future return to logged settings and tune for max with a series of dits. 5-10 seconds on a clear freq.
4  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Moral implications of using flagpole antenna? on: March 29, 2013, 05:41:42 PM
When you ask people "How ya doin?"   They really want to tell you.   I'm not usually looking for that level of honesty.
5  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: How to remove a gable vent (22" octagonal)? on: March 12, 2013, 08:17:34 AM
You can only remove this vent by removing the siding beginning at the peak and working down -- not an easy job.  The vent will likely be nailed to the sheathing and the siding is then slid into a channel surrounding the vent.  Take a look at one at your local Home Depot or Lowes, and you will have a better idea of what you are facing.  I would be surprised if this is the only entry into your attic -- there should be a trap door as someone else suggested.  It's a simple matter to make a hole from the inside through the screen and slide the cables through this.
6  eHam Forums / Good Seller / Buyer Beware / RE: RADIO-MART SALES ILLEGAL!? on: February 25, 2013, 01:08:36 AM
An incorporation and business license are not the same.  Many businesses operate legally without incorporation.
7  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: TH6-DXX Refurbish - Loading Coils on: December 25, 2012, 08:20:51 PM
I think you will have issues getting it apart.  What I would do is replace the element to coil screws with stainless.
8  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Too much info on PSK31?? on: December 09, 2012, 06:23:49 AM
There are lots of different types of women.  A real man can find something to appreciate about any of them.  Some I like better than others.  Much like a qso.
9  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / RE: Love those 3-500's on: November 20, 2012, 09:38:09 PM
I would share the concern of another poster who commented about the dangers of RF exposure to such high powers, especially in a mobile.  I'm not an expert on it, but it would give me the heebee jeebees.

I know it's dumb to post these, but this is extreme.

11  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Soldering Antenna Wire on: November 01, 2012, 06:36:17 PM
Always use my propane torch.   Except last time I stepped on the tip and ruined it.  Had to use the mapp torch.
12  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / RE: Tube Linear - Best Practive on: October 06, 2012, 09:08:14 AM
That review is written in some kind of foreign language.
13  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Dug Hole for Tower WET on: September 11, 2012, 06:53:03 PM
Check your water bill.

Seriously, remember that the strongest concrete is poured underwater.
14  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / RE: TS-520 3.395 MHz crystal on: June 23, 2012, 09:37:29 PM
I'd look for a replacement board on ebay.   Failing that, contact International Crystal.
15  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Ham-IV Sanity Check Request on: May 29, 2012, 06:05:09 PM
Better bet. Just pick up a control unit on eBay.  They are listed all the time.
