The SQL setting in the menu (by holding down the MHz/SET button) was set too low. I set it to 12 and the s-meter stopped registering.

I have a Yaesu FT-1500M. When I am not transmitting to or receiving from another ham, the S-meter fluctuates between 3-4 the entire time. What could be causing this?

I got one of those from a friend of mine and it has the mod to make it receive out of band. It will kill the automatic repeater shift feature, but works out of band.

I have a VX-6R and a FT-7900R. I bought the 6R programming cable from AES Ham when I bought the radio and made a cable for the 7900 that connects to the non-USB end of the 6R cable. I am getting a FT-1500M from one of my Elmers this weekend at Ham Holiday in OKC, so I am on the lookout for the cable.

The cable for the 1500M is USB on one end and 6-pin RJ-11 on the other. Since I already have the 6R cable with the USB end, I might see what it would take to make a 6-pin end.
