Hi.YS1MAE.  Very good question!.  Answer is,it is not being regulated.  The league on this point,as it does on all  instances of cheating, turns a blind eye and ignores it.  Thanks for raising this important topic, you are a real radio amateur.  73  Smiley

Hi KAPT4560.  You log stations that you, cannot identify call-sign or location, then Google them to find out what you were "probably" listening to ,and then QSL them !, that`s as bad as "listening" on Perseus,   Huh. Why not try using skill, you would get alot more satisfaction.  Smiley

Hi all. Any SWL who uses a computer to "listen" for him,

Hi all. Any SWL who uses a computer to "listen" {often when he is fast asleep},should be ashamed to call himself a radio amateur. Perseus is killing the hobby. Broadcast band "listeners" are now using that receiver to record, then they listen to its recordings, often days, weeks,or even months later, and have the nerve to report these as to magazines. Real DXing, can only be done in real time. That is skill, not listening to computer recordings. Roll Eyes

Hi,Ken, Yes,i probably misinterpreted FCC regulations,i have never read them in depth,as they dont apply to me,  Frank, the students of A&M University in Texas, sound like a very astute bunch of guys to me,that is the best, and probably definitive discription of political correctness that i have ever come across.        Chris, I can confirm what you write about unlisted phone numbers,at a previous residence LL phone number was unlisted, but i still got calls at all hours of the day and night ,not just from Britain, but from abroad as well. I no longer have an LL phone. Ken,cant comment on the mail issue,as i have no experience of it. 73 de Michael.G1WFK  Smiley

Hi,Mike and Alan.  Mike, I too thought that a PO Box number would protect privacy, but a few weeks back,a Gentleman in California, informed me that he ,and others could discover hams addresses even those who used POBs. Now maybe he is in a job, that allows him access to information denied to the rest of us,but its a sad commentary on life today, that one is denied the basic freedom to privacy, its bad enough the Government snooping, { The previous government here, was practically Stalinist in its monitoring of the population,Britain was the most spied upon entity in the Western World, not by foreigners, but by its own government}.  Sad.  Alan, you win your bet, Smiley, The cheque is in the post,hi hi. Mike,Alan, enjoy your Day. 73 from a VERY COLD London. Mike.G1WFK.  Smiley

Hi KiDA. You are 100% correct re: the BEEB. it USED to be a fine news outlet, but no longer, too much political interference from Governments here, and from the European Union { that organization makes makes an annual grant to the BBC,need I say more}. 73 de Mike.G1WFK. Smiley

Hello,W4FID.  All that you stated is correct. But really not related to freedom of speech. I was really making a general point, rather than commenting on QRZ. Please read all of the posts re:this thread. It is becoming tiresome to have to keep repeating that I WAS NOT THE PERSON BANNED BY QRZ.!!!. I was commenting upon it. I get the impression,OM,that you are not aware of this.  73 de Michael.G1WFK.  PS. I acknowledge fully,Fred,s right to run his site his way. and i repeat,I have nothing against him,or QRZ.Its a good one,and well run. 73,Michael.

Hello,Chris and Bill.  Chris, thank you for your magnanimous words, its true,we all get carried away at times, and I agree, one should be able to express ones views without having to resort to four letter words and profanity, as all commenting on this thread have done.commendable restraint, gentlemen Smiley. Bill, thank you for your kind compliment, your knowledge of English expressions is excellent. A descendent of Edward 1. perhaps I should call you Sir!.HI HI. We could do with a Gentleman like you ,come over and claim the throne before William and Kate get their hands on it.!!!.  You could appoint me as your court jester.HI HI. Its been both interesting and fun chatting to you Gentlemen, Im off now to chase ZL8X,Kermadec Island, though due to station reorganization, for the moment im reduced to using my little Alinco,100 watts, and a 5RV, with the flux at 75, only hope is 20m cw. Still, the harder the task, the greater the glory,HI HI. Take care,73 from a very cold London. 73 de Mike,G1WFK. Smiley Wink Smiley

Hello Chris. Having just re-read my initial post I accept your point,it should have been made clearer that I was NOT the person banned by QRZ. I was merely commenting upon it. Fred, ofcourse has the right to run QRZ as he sees fit,let me make it clear,I have NOTHING AGAINST,Fred, nor his site, its a good one,and well run,as is EHAM. I was really making a general point re: freedom of speech. You are perfectly correct, absolute frredom of speech could not exist, otherwise, Paedophiles, pornographers, etc, could propagate their evil opinions anywhere they choose.{ Though here in the British Isles, the latter, have pretty well freedom of the airwaves, if I wanted to open a radio station broadcasting semi-pornography,i would have little difficulty in obtaining a licence, but if i wanted to open a station broadcasting religious programming,my application would be denied, these Islands are morally bankrupt}. But I had always assumed that freedom of expression must always apply in three areas. RELIGION.MORALITY.AND POLITICS. I opened a can of worms with my comments,I had not intended this to happen, but one comment lead to another, and it all got a bit out of hand. I really was commenting on a lack of freedom of speech in society in general, not on specific sites. I thank all for their constructive comments, for and against my views. Sadly a very few decided not to join in the debate, but to snipe at me from the touchline, with comments such as, "secret identity", "anonymous" "hidden". This puzzled me greatly,as EVERY post was clearly identified, with my callsign, and name. I can only assume they are dyslexic.  Wink Bill, thanks for taking my little joke,re:spelling,in the spirit in which it was intended. Smiley Enjoyed your comment about the California kilowatt. Smiley You are correct, degenerates come from all sections of society. By the way,my comments were not aimed at American politics, whatever the rights or wrongs of things over your way, they are not my concern.  Wink. AD6KA. thanks for the laugh. Wink Wink. A good day to you all. 73 de Michael.G1WFK. Smiley

Hi, I do wish some of you Gentlemen would read all of the posts before commenting. I repeat,It was not I who was banned by QRZ.COM. I was supporting the right of an American gentleman to hold, and express his opinion. How ironic that a few Americans,of all people, appear to be opposed to free speech. I repeat,I have NEVER been banned from any site. Bill, ( KB6YH}, I do know how to spell, HYPOCRITE, I am a one finger typist, and hit the wrong key,you being so clever would never do that ofcourse. Wink. K2FOX , Thank you Smiley. I did not say all liberals are degenerates, but, some are,and most appear to be apologists for degenerates, there may be some confusion over the definition of a "liberal", I was not really refering to political liberalism, but to the anything goes, do as please type, that is,anything goes unless it has a moral theme, if one expresses any kind of moral standard, belief,it is shouted down and ridiculed by the liberal establishment,{ if you really want to know what i mean, come over here and listen to the BBC domestic stations} . I apologise for once again deviating from the subject of ham radio, but i do have to defend myself against a very few gentlemen who seem determined to misrepresent my position. And,i am not "hiding", my call-sign,G1WFK,is a legit English call, issued to me by OFCOM.  73 de Michael,G1WFK.  PS. Bill, dont forget to check the spelling. Wink  Smiley  PPS. whether you support, Barack or Sarah, enjoy your day.  Smiley

HI.N5MOA. You have said it all. Personally I think using cluster to"DX" is shooting dead fish in a barrell. No real DX,er would rely on it, nor IMO even use it.  Roll Eyes. 73 de Michael.G1WFK.  Smiley

Hi. well said AB8MA.  A qso,is not a qso until callsigns are exchanged, identified. DX stations have to share some of the responsibility for this problem, far too many seem to assume they are so well known identifying by call is unnecessary {arrogance}. its symtomatic of the hobby changing from radio to computer communication. Even as an SWL,I never logged a station until I heard a positive ID. I have lost all respect for DXCC,WAZ,WAS,etc, with cluster, remote receivers, and "QSO"s by "ESP",{ have you listened to 75/80m long path Winter openings?, the number of phoney contacts between  W6/7,VE7,etc and European operators is unbelieveable, stations struggle for minutes to get even the call, then give Q5 reports, after being guided into the signal report, ofcourse. I know cheating is not new,but it is so much easier today than ever before. Though i am not suggesting that anyone posting on this topic is doing it.  Smiley. If DX stations would give real reports,it would reduce the amount of cheating, but that ofcourse would reduce their qso rate, knocking them down the table of DX-PEDITION with most contacts, thus hitting them where it hurts most,in the ego. Though i think this would be good for the hobby, quality qso,s,not quantity should be what we aim for, after all,if all the teams involved won the Superbowl,it would be worthless. 73 de Michael.G1WFK.   Hi,Lon.Thank you. Smiley. And WB2WIK. lol,how right you are om,there is no hiding place in the World of today, that is indeed my address, though at present I am /A, up in London. Family member is at the other address, Though i don,t see anything wrong in trying, albeit, unsuccessfully to protect ones privacy, Big Brother is nosey enough. Wink. Thank you for not giving whole address. Enjoy your weekends,Lon,and WB2WIK. 73 de Mike.
