eHam Forums / CW / RE: Future of CW

My goal was to get a T1 commercial license. One requirement is having one year of experience sending and receiving CW at a coastal station or a ship. The problem (as I was told) is there are no coastal stations anymore, and ships aren't using CW, having switched to more advanced methods of communicaitons.
The decline of CW isn't just endemic to the amateur service.

From the NCI bylaws:
"NCI is dedicated to the abolition of the Morse code testing requirement as a prerequisite for any class of Amateur Radio License, in all countries in the world. NCI will lobby various associations, governmental, and administrative officials and Boards of Directors worldwide, to accomplish abolition of Morse Code testing."
They featured articles on their webpage every time a country dropped CW, maybe 24 countries in total.
After the FCC caved in they disbanded their organization, apparently leaving operators in the remaining 300 countries in the world to fend for themselves.

It's a 2001. I don't think a glass mount will work very well.
The underside of the back hatch is metal. I'm thinking the right mount and maybe a grounding strap would work.

Has anyone successfully mounted a dual band and antenna in a C5 Corvette coupe without drilling holes in the body or welding metal?
