I've managed to work them on 3 bands, both CW and SSB. I did manage to work them on 30M CW but I will admit they seem to be working a LOT of JA's. You would think that if the band was open to NA they would concentrate on that instead. Japan is almost in their back yard John K7KB

It's 3:36 AM here in Chicago (I'm on business travel) and I just couldn't sleep, so I decided to check and see if the people who worked us at 7O6T were happy today. After all the negative press shared at Dayton about our trip, I guess I was just hoping to hear something positive.
Dima (RA9USU) and I agreed not to use the $5 EU for QSLing and stayed with $3.50 US rate. He is not interested in making money, but just trying to cover the cost. This money is being deposited directly into Dima's account. I'm very proud of this young man. He worked his ass off for us to get this operation approved and stuck his head out using his personal money in hope to make it happen. A very nice job indeed!
Congrats to you guys who worked us. The pleasure was certainly ours. I had a chance to work CW, SSB and a little RTTY.
73's David - K3LP
David: I don't think I witnessed that much negative press, at least here on this forum. Oh sure, there were a few complaints, there always is. But for the most part, I think everyone thought you guys did a wonderful job in difficult conditions. I know I sure appreciated your efforts!! Congrats to the team for a job well done. John K7KB

It's funny. I've worked E40VB on two bands now, both RTTY. So now I'm begging he will get on CW and SSB for a change. That's a switch John K7KB

I have been chasing E40VB on countless number of occasions without any success. Not a peep here on any bands. Finally 17m answered my wish today with my first ever contact to E4. Needless to say I'm thrilled.
Big congrats to John K7KB as well.

I'm glad you got him also Jon He is still running 17M RTTY (0120Z) and his signal has increased somewhat, but so has the pileup! John K7KB

I just worked E40VB on 18.100 RTTY, working split. Wow, not only was it all all time new one for me, it was especially sweet to work him on RTTY John K7KB

Are you picking this up from the local beauty salon, or a result of something you smoked? Actually though, I do hope you are right Gene. I know a lot of hams out there that would be very happy if a DX'pedition to Navassa was a reality soon. John K7KB

This is great news as long as the military regime stays with the course of reform. Not only should it make things a bit easier for Simon, but for other full scale DX'peditions that may wish to operate out of that country.

It would be a new one for me, that's for sure. I guess the thing that gets me is that if I had not been on a hiatus from Amateur Radio over the last 20 years or so, I probably would have been on the Honor Roll a long time ago. But at 290 worked, I still have quite a few years left to go before I get there. Oh well, I guess I have something to look forward to work on when I retire in a couple of years John K7KB

I will have to say I have a very understanding wife when it comes to my hobby. When I told her that I would like to buy a US Tower TX-472 Crank-up tower and 3-element SteppIR, she told me "Whatever makes you happy!" And yes, she was fully aware of the price for the permits, concrete work, tower, and antenna which came to about $10,000. So that's why I think I'll keep her John K7KB

If I remember correctly, the monastery at Mt. Athos has strict guidelines on who can visit and under what conditions. I don't think a full scale DX'pedition with a bunch of ops, antennas, etc. would qualify even if the proceeds were donated John K7KB

I think many of us W6's and W'7s are in the same boat concerning the remaining needed EU's as Mt. Athos, SMOM, and the Vatican are on my wish list as well. But same as Jonathan, I worked ZC4LI during one of the RTTY contests. I've only heard Monk Apollo on one time, and that was on 10 meter RTTY. But he was fairly weak and the East Coast wall was impossible to break. I also tried to get through a pileup on a Vatican operation without any luck.

Yes, Bravo to the group for bringing many of us a new one. You showed how a top-notch DX'pedition should operate and a job well done. Have a safe trip back home.

Last QSO in database: 2012-05-14 21:30:21
If your QSO were before this date and time, it probably won't show up. Even then there are times that one of the uploads might occur later from a particular computer if it's not networked.

YAY!! - I was finally able to work 7O6T on RTTY this evening. I got a break when they were calling for West Coast only. 3 bands and 3 modes. Not bad for this time around John K7KB

Yesterday afternoon I heard one of the 7O ops calling for W6, Southern California only. I'm not sure how the Northern Cal guys felt about that, but I hope he was working both I did think it was a bit unfair for us W7's also on the West Coast but then I had to consider the W7's in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona that have a bit of a propagation advantage. It wasn't a big deal to me because I'm already in the log. John K7KB
