I have a Kenwood TS 480 SAT. And downloaded the Kenwood software. I found the DB9F to DB9F cable for $10 and the DB9M to USB for $16. It just took some looking. However I have yet to get the 480 software to work and didn't realize that SKYPE was part of the equation. That's a easy fix. Getting the radio to work with Ham Radio Deluxe was a snap once you got the right cable, just remember to check auto detect on the com ports and the baud speed and at the bottom check the 1st and 3rd box, I think its CTS and RTS but my memory is poor so at the bottom there are three boxes check the 1st and 3rd ones and walk out of the room for a while. It took mine over 15 minutes to do everything with a new computer running windows 8. Don't ask! This TS 480 is a really fine radio. My other is a Yeasu FT-897, its a real work horse and I like that it has the VHF and UHF, BUT the receiver and noise filters on the Kenwood beat it hands down. And when they give you free computer control software the only way to beat it is to add VHF and UHF. Great rig just takes a little searching for cheap cables and your in.
