Hi OM Kirk,

I suppose a 1kΩ resistor in series with the line to the mic input would do the trick.

Good luck!

Hi OM Clark,

Many thanks for your response and suggestions.

I found the rusty cover of the enclosure on which the antenna is terminated is not too bad as a detector either!

I blued the blade over a gas flame and its detection capability just disappeared.

Going back to basics is real fun.

Hi OM Allen,

I am 61 years old and got my ticket 35 years ago. Even I got to hear of steampunk recently although I have been involved with it for ages!

Many thanks.

Hi OM Allen,

Broadly, steampunk is a culture based on an imaginary visualization of the future by a person  in the ‘steam age’ (when steam engines ruled).

For us in ham radio, homebrewing equipment for today using vintage technology / vintage parts is steampunk.  Years ago steampunk became the rule when the only source of cheap parts for us was WWII surplus.

I consider this RF Milliammeter steampunk because of its looks and construction. If you could spare the time, you may go through my blog and decide which of my other projects are also steampunk!

Here’s the link.

Many thanks.
