N4ATS: "If its just the power supply that needs checked out , I will do it free for you to help out."
>Now THIS is ham radio at its best!
Yes it certainly is. I can guarantee you that if I ever need to have any equipment worked on, it will be going to N4ATS! Based on the postings of his that I have read, he has a way above average attitude regarding customer service and wanting to help people out. That trait is very hard to find these days. I for one am very appreciative that we have people like that out there contributing to the hobby and willing to help a fellow amateur out.

>There is no provision for a separate receive antenna but you can add an external circuit feeding into the u-tune jack.
I would like to know more about this, I have never heard of that. So what you are talking about is a way to have the 950 receive on a different antenna that it transmits on?
I have heard of the uTune modules but was not aware there was a way to use those connections to connect another antenna.
Can you provides some links where I can get some more information?
Thanks, Carlton

The DMU is not really a 'computer control' product, it adds things like RF/AF bandscope capabilities, it does not add any type of control or computer interface to the rig. A lot of people use HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe) for computer control of the rig. There are a lot of other packages out there that offer computer control. Yaesu also has some I believe. What exactly are you looking to accomplish?

Do you know when that final revision was done? I bought an ALS-600 back around last May and I'm just wondering if I may have a unit with the latest fix or possibly if I should expect some problems down the road.

eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: LDG YT-100 and FT-857D, Radio tune control?

With the 857D, you must press the Tune button on the LDG Tuner. The Tune button on the rig does not work in this configuration. What is happening when you press the tune button on the tuner is that it is talking to the radio via CAT to set power level and a mode that has a constant carrier output. It then commands the radio to transmit. After the tuning is complete, the LDG restores the radio to the previous mode and power level before the tuning took place.

I didn't realize that the IT job description had grown to include 'teaching people a lesson'
I think that attitude is one of the reasons so many 'users' despise 'IT people'.
And btw, I'm in IT, I'm not one of the lowly 'users'

>Not quite related to your question, but I also have a DMU2000 and was wondering if you have been able to find any useful information out of the scope displays (button 3)?
I don't really use that feature since the software that I use (HRD) has a waterfall display which is much higher resolution and more useful than the audio scope. Is there something specific you wanting to know?
>Elecraft is usually quick to get back to you with answers to pre-sales questions.
I don't really have any direct questions, I know the combination will work. I was just curious if anyone has actually done it and what their opinion was on whether or not they thought it was worth the money. It will be fairly pricey by the time you factor in the P3, IF-2000 card, and the SVGA adapter board, much more than the cost of the DMU2000.
