Fixed! Note from Laurie, VK3AMA
I suggest you use the HRDV5 (ODBC DSN) option for HRD logging as the Access method will no longer work with the next release of JT-ALert.
HRD automatically creates an ODBC DSN for each log file. Visit the HRD V5 (ODBC DSN) section of the JT-Alert configuration and select the correct DSN from the drop-down box. Be sure to check the enable checkbox, top left of that section.

Just installed JT-alert to go with JT65 HF and it seems to work ok except It won't write to HRD log. It says it can't find the file. I certainly don't know where it is and even if I did there doesn't seem to be a way to tell JT-Alert where it is.
Any suggestions

Technically correct, However if you want to CQ you probably need to be between 14080 and 14099, otherwise you'll be CQing for a long while. Don't you think that if you're just cruising for contacts that'll generally be where you go? 15 Khz SEEMS like too much of the usable band, IMHO it's a bit much. But, having said that, a previous poster pointed out it is very rare, and I suppose he's right.

Darnedest thing I ever saw, they were lined up on the waterfall like fence posts trying to be heard. The entire 20m RTTY segment CONSUMED by operators trying to get through to CY9M. I couldn't hear him (not real sure where he actually was, maybe 14083.6) as a result the band was not usable for anything else. I think this is an example of why operating split has to have some kind of limit, maybe 2khz. Replies ?

Hmmm, that would indicate that my Signalink USB is always in-circuit even thought it's not being used when I'm on phone. I wonder if it impacts my audio quality on phone? If I can get home and manage to remember it, I'll listen on monitor and plug and unplug the SL at the box.

The way I noticed it was the XYL dropped a big box and the waterfall for my psk-31 session was wiped out. I simply must not have noticed before.
This from the manual: NOTE: When SSB data mode is selected, the audio input from the [ACC(1)] (pin 6) is used for transmission instead of [MIC]’s. The fixed condition is used for SSB data transmission as follow. •[COMP] : OFF • Tx bandwidth : MID • Tx Tone (Bass) : 0 • Tx Tone (Trebles) : 0
I find though, that using non D mode works best for me although the above manual entry is Probably where I got my original idea the front mic was off..

My understanding is that where ever the PTT input is received that's where the audio is taken.
However, on mine when the aux PTT is keyed the audio is taken from both the main mic input AND the aux input.
I have to unplug the mic to use the rear audio inputs. I swear this has not always been this way, is it possible a setup somewhere that got changed?
The schematic for audio is very hard to follow, it jumps all over many pages and goes in circles.
Ideas!

If I'm primarily doing contacts, I do use a lot of macros that do indeed use the double ID method (front and back of each exchange) but, as pointed out, if a ragchew gets started then I'll go freestyle and just begin each transmission with X de Y then after typing, end with k or kn. Then at the end do the macro double ID. That sounds like it's in compliance with the letter and spirit. The double ID for every exchange appears to not be required (and I've always thought it double double redundant redundant) and should the band police mention it again I'll point out the current rule as posted by AA4NB.

I guess it's one of those letter vs spirit things. The letter states beginning and end and every 10 minutes, correct as I remember it. I notice on phone folks rarely follow that rule. A net I work mornings is probably the only people I've heard doing it properly these days. As to the spirit, I think at the beginning or the end will fulfill that. For example: letter: aaaa de bbbb, Ok Joe, aaaa de bbbb, k spirit: aaaa de bbbb, ok Joe, k

Station ID is required by the FCC. However I recall there's a bit of latitude on how often.
So on PSK you might see:
"aaaa de bbbb, Good morning Joe, How are you?, aaaa de bbbb kn"
but what might be better is:
"aaaa de bbbb, gm Joe, how ru?, kn
Half as much yet says the same thing. I've seen some folks end with k or kn without the call But I've also been chastised for doing it myself.
What say you all??

Oh yes, I can see it quite well. And the are good explanations as to potential causes, thanks. Maybe you could pm me. We could do a sked this week? I'm currently in the NC foothills so we might be able to do something on 20m. I'd value a good and useful report.
