eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / BC-306 Ant. Tuner

I have a WWII BC-306 antenna tuner that was for 180 to 800? KC. Tapped coil and a variometer (or variocoupler). I would be interested to know if anyone has mod. one for use as a modern ant. tuner. It has two ceramic feed thru/connecting posts that would look good conn. to my 450 ohm ladder line with a balun in line. Any ideas?

I recently acquired a well used DX-35 along with some boat anchor items. When I insp. the DX-35 I was surprised to find the RF output tank coil was missing and a single coil that appears to be 10//11 m was in its place. Then I found (3) 8.xx mhz crystals installed. No way I could come up with 26--29 mhz out. from above mentioned xtals.24.xx mhz maybe or 32.xx. I wonder if it was mod. for use on some MARS or CAP freq. The osc/buffer ckts. were designed to double or triple the osc. freq. Any ideas, anyone?

I recently regis. on this site (and sent a contribution). I have used Antiqueradios.com site for years and I am used to being able to view all my posts; here I do not see that option. I recently found a post about Gonset converters and corresp. with the poster. I found a Gonset in my "stuff" and now do not know what forum I found the fellow on and did not get his callsign. So, now I'm lost. An old ham trying to learn new tricks.

Thanks Mike--that was him. He has been "lost" a long time. Think I will try to find out if he is S.K.

P.S. This a great site--I only found it recently.

I had access to a Kenwood TS 830 for a few days; thinking of buying it. It was fine except for an intermittent drifting (upward) of received freq--the digital freq. would show about 300 hz shift up. Also, intermitt. the FIX lamp illuminated and the freq. on dispkay was locked--tuning dial had no effect. Recycling the FIX switch would restore the orig. frequency it was tuned to. Is this a common problem with this model? I am basically a Boat Anchor man from way back and this new fangled stuff intimidates me.

I knew a HAM in 50's; w8prc, from Ohio. He called it "Perfect Radio Communications". I tried to find him when I finally got a computer but some Ham Club now has his call. I am afraid he is SK. Did anyone here ever know him, way back?

eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / Mystery Boatanchor Receiver--Help, anyone?

I have a WWII vint. receiver that reminds me of BC 312, 342 and 348 but I can not ID it. Someone took mainframe and put into a 19" r. rack and moved some things around. The tube lineup has me stumped; to wit--(4) 12sg7, (2) 12sj7, (1) 12sk7, (2) 6h6 and a 12a6 af output. Four band--covers 2.0 to 20.00 mhz. The escutcheon around dial is like a 348 etc. Any help would be appreciated.
