3  eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / RE: Transmitter restarting my Airport Extreme router.. on: April 25, 2012, 04:38:12 PM
My antenna is about 50 feet away.  Utilizing LMR400 from the antenna to the mfj pass thru (tested without and still had this problem).  This is happening on all bands from 80 - 10m.

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

4  eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / Transmitter restarting my Airport Extreme router.. on: April 24, 2012, 03:36:05 PM
All,

My Airport Extreme router restarts occasionally (not with every transmission - but 30 - 40% of the time) when I transmit on my FT-857.  It happens even at times when my LDG tuner does a simple tune to a band.

I have turned off the wireless feature of the router (so everything was hard wired with cat-5) and it stilled happened.

Any suggestions?  I have checked the coax cables inside / outside of the house - no problems.  Will Ferrite cores on my router help?  Installed on the power or on the ethernet cable or both?

Thanks,

Michael

5  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: "Hum" from radio channel into mixer... on: March 18, 2012, 06:24:16 PM
So would one such as this work?  My audio path to the mixer is from the radio ext speaker 3.5 mm port to xlr port on mixer.  On the return, the mic is ran through the mixer to the iPlus....FYI.

Hey all,

I have waded into the land of dedicated audio equipment for my amateur radio equipment and am amazed by the reports I am receiving from others.

I do have one problem I have yet to work out and was wondering if anyone had any ideas...but first let me explain what I have setup, as I am sure that would be the first question asked of me.

Yaesu FT-857
LDG YT-100 Tuner
Behringer 1622FX USB Mixer
iPlus by W2IHY
Heil PR-781
Yaesu FP-1030a Power Supply

I am thinking the issue is that I do not have the power supply, tuner or radio grounded and I have heard that that could cause a hum. My issue is that I am in a 2nd story "office" in my house and running a ground that long would just turn it into another antenna.

So I am wondering what I can do to work on getting rid of the "hum".

Thanks so much,

Michael
